No comparison.

Mercury Rev's first three albums are absolutely stunning. The guitar sound on Chasing A Bee is one of the most extraordinary sounds I've ever heard. Play the vinyl version very loud and you'll never come back.

The Strokes are great too though.

mercury rev has made better albums but their most recent was crap (but sounded good in live setting with the guitars up in the mix) as compared to the new strokes album
btw I'll take a snotty rich kid singing about leaving a party to drink forties with his friends
as opposed to ex herion addict singing like a child about spiders and flies
I just tend to believe julian's words more than johnathan's
