ok. noticed you did the liner notes for the roky erickson reissue (the mental hospital tapes) --- is that it? is there more? why am i getting obsessed with lo-fi versions by famous sixties cultheads? i know you were on the same record label... just a'wondering. cause the erikson album is a treat.

as far as I know the rest of the erikson stuff isn't scheduled for release - I don't think "Never Say Goodbye" set any sales records or anything, and the only reason to release the stuff is to help Roky out.

-"in '67...we recorded some material with john fahey. and our record company went through the ceiling over this. they threatened not to bring us back from california...so rick (barthelme) and steve (cunningham ) said, "you go to frisco and get the tapes, and we're going back to texas." so it became my job to do this, because i had started the band. so i came back up here and picked up the tapes, which were reluctantly handed over. we intended to try to do something with them. and then i had to take these tapes back to texas, give them to the record company, and then bust up, that was the end of that." if you do have a tape of some of these session, it would be a very important find... please contact me and we can work out a trade or something... i believe mayo thompson would be very interested in this, as well...
