He's better than Girls Aloud, you know?

Finally listening to "Dedicated", a mere five months after its release... it's funny how it sounds so little like any R&B around at the moment, or since about 1976 really. A little more crisp, the obligatory appaerance from Stargate... and that's it. He even takes on "Let's Stay Together", and ends up on all fours. "50/50" and "Dance (With U)" were two of the 50 best singles of last years, and "Dance (With U)" has the added benefit of sounding like it was written by Morrissey ("The birds and the bees/ Bringing us to our knees").

I like.

Very dud.
Still more so when I saw a live video of his cover of the Darkness' I Believe in a Thing Called Love on MTV Base t'other week. This achieved the remarkable feat of making a truly execrable song even worse. To quote Alan Partridge: "Two questions: How... and why?"

noooooooo....that cover is great! it's sweet. his 2 big hits last year were both quite good, but he's a bit too nice. i mean, he's clearly a very nice bloke, very polite, quite humble, well behaved. not really r'n'b star material? i do like his voice a lot though.

he is definitely not as good as girls aloud.

i really like his voice when he is not trilling too much. 50/50 is ace, but Lullaby is one of the worst songs ive ever heard.

i like well-behaved RnB stars.

I love his version of "I Believe In A Thing Called Love"! It sounds like the Isley Brothers waking up.

so sick of these ironic covers now

Lemar's okay tho, ok face, ok voice, ok. Being a young black male vocalist from the UK he'll not manage sales as big as Beyonce's or Usher's or even Craig David's and Daniel Bedingfields's. Maybe it's just cos he's not 'interesting' enough in his perceived hipness? Too cool for the suburbs, too safe for the city?

I'm more of a Roachford man myself.

Roachford and Lemar are both playing the Prince's Trust Urban Music Festival this year!

Lemar had one OK-ish song - that "dance dance dance" one - and everything else on the album is zzzz. His voice is OK but not compelling in any way, and his style is very bland. Girls Aloud are so far above him that they may well exist in different universes.

He has a decent voice and his debut single is classic. He is however, to echo others, missing a big fat edge which translates into interest and huge sales.

Also, Lionel Richie is his idol.
