He said he doesn't like other people covering his songs. Just don't use the "r" word. (He didn't say that.) I thought it was an okay interview, overall, though I can't say I've read many interviews with him.

read pretty much like every other interview I've ever seen him give. The writer comes off kinda bitchy about how touchy and unreasonable Prince is and Prince comes off kinda aloof and egotistical, but smart and funny as well.

I gave an oral report on Prince yesterday as part of a public speaking assignment. I think I hit every piece of information in this thread so far.

In the article Prince seems to be unaware that Aretha didn't write Respect.

"No! I don't like anyone covering my work. Write your own tunes!" He says he got up in R&B singer Ginuwine's face for bungling the lyrics in a 1996 version of "When Doves Cry." "I was just busting on hipm to bust him, but I was a little serious: Have some respect man. If anyone tried to cover 'Respect' by Aretha? I would shoot them myself!"

Respect is an Otis Redding tune. Looks like Aretha should get shot.

Prince is still my hero.
