i'm sure some of you are clued up about this site. i just wondered if any of you were hip to the better mixes on the site, it's pretty daunting for someone with a 56k connection - recommendations?

thanks

never seen this page, thanks 4 posting. i dunno whether this one's any good but the vintage konders stuff i've heard has been absolutely sublime. do that 1st and report back, please!

hang on, i thought i said recommendations not requests! nah, bobby konders is as good a place to start as any, i want to hear more stuff from that early-90s nu groove scene. 'the poem' is hot. i reckon a lot of that old slow-burning house stuff has a link to modern dancehall riddims, would be good to try a mix of the two.

My favourites are the mid-80s ROn Hardy Muzic Box live tapes, but the best one i've downloaded recently was 1006. Frankie Knuckles Live @ Belmont Ave. Beach - Gay Pride Day, (live mic) Chicago 1985.

GOOO FRANKIEEEEE!!!

I've probably logged more time on the fourth page of mixes than any other page on the net -- Wizard, Hardy, Knuckles, Ken Collier. There's a Derrick May from the Music Institute that has knocked me over a couple times (can't recall the exact location), and plenty of others are worth mentioning. Scads of WBMX mixes, etc. It's my favorite website by a mile.

what's the quality of sound like - i'm at work so can't tell till i get home, but there's a heap of stuff i want here.

Is the stuff always real player files and not mp3s? I have a great Derrick May set I got there a few months back.

Some of the stuff looks like real history lesson material. I must use this site more.

The sound quality varies wildly, given the numerous sources. Admittedly it's a crap shoot. Some poor audience recordings, some radio shows are nth generation dubs, etc. Hardly anything's pristine, but a lot of it's worth listening to.

Sound quality is absolute crap on the best ones - walkman in the pocket, people screaming and stuff - in the best tradition of "Flash It To The Beat" / "Death Mix" etc...

Hardy plays a lot of obscure European new wavey type stuff as can be found on the rather good Music Box booties!
