He still gigs sporadically.

Unfortunately he seems to be far better known these days for being an alcoholic wreck than for being a great songwriter and vocalist.

Actually, I did know he was still alive....or at least undead in some capacity. Very sad (not him being beaten up, I mean, but what a shabbby disaster he has become...although him getting beaten up is a shame as well....though I don't doubt he was askin' for it.) Still beating up Shane MacGowan (much less using a metal bar to do so) is a bit like beating up Betty Ford or Steven Hawkings....he's not really in a position or shape to fight back, is he.

The problem is that no-one seems to have told Shane - and unfortunately he is still in an extremely good position and shape to get himself into any number of fights.
