No. Goodbye 20th Century is the worst album of all time.

The Cocktail Soundtrack's pretty damn bad, though!!

Mr. Snrub (Mr. Snrub), Wednesday, 21 April 2004 18:37 (twenty-two years ago)

The corporate rock 80s was nothing but a slow build to that moment. It was the Reagan 80s that wanted to be the 50s, with a plastic sheen and gated drums.

My parents LOVED that soundtrack. They always played it in the car during long drives. That soundtrack is a part of my youth. And yes, it is quite awful.

latebloomer (latebloomer), Wednesday, 21 April 2004 18:45 (twenty-two years ago)

Buddy Holly by John Cougar, Elvis by Ry Cooder, Mike Love, leads off with a terrible Starship song, "Don't Worry Be Happy," the "blues" done by the Fabulous Thunderbirds and the Georgia Satelites. A healthy respect for tradtion all the way around.

Mark (MarkR), Wednesday, 21 April 2004 18:50 (twenty-two years ago)

I genuinely think that this looks brilliant. But I love Starship. And my wife loves Kokomo and the Karate Kid 2 soundtrack. This clearly has a place in our home.

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 21 April 2004 18:54 (twenty-two years ago)

Have you heard "Wild Again" though?

Mark (MarkR), Wednesday, 21 April 2004 18:55 (twenty-two years ago)

don't be hatin' on the T-birds.

The Fabulous Thunderbirds thread

I'd wrestle with a lion
or a grizzly bear
it's my life, baby
but I don't care

Ain't that tough enough?

Mark (MarkR), Wednesday, 21 April 2004 18:59 (twenty-two years ago)

The Teen Wolf OST is where its at. Every track is supposed to be by a different artist even though its blatantly obvious that its the same LA session guys with different vocalists.

Saying that, Big Bad Wolf by the Wolf Sisters rocks the phat one in a squelchy vocoder way and the "Transformation music" is the best guided tour of 80's production cliches you'll ever hear.

Lynskey (Lynskey), Wednesday, 21 April 2004 19:01 (twenty-two years ago)

If it's the original "Tutti Frutti," then frankly it could be a lot worse.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 21 April 2004 19:02 (twenty-two years ago)

I have NOT heard "Wild Again".

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 21 April 2004 19:16 (twenty-two years ago)

I think Cocktail, the movie, is agreed by everyone to be the lamest idea ever for a movie that actually got made. For it to also have the worst soundtrack ever defies all odds and suggests some perverse design behind it all.

Curt (cgould), Wednesday, 21 April 2004 19:55 (twenty-two years ago)

nothing with Little Richard can be the worst anything.

Daniel DiMAGGIO (Daniel DiMAGGIO), Wednesday, 21 April 2004 23:43 (twenty-two years ago)

KOKOMO IS GOD

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Wednesday, 21 April 2004 23:48 (twenty-two years ago)

IT GIVES ME A TROPICAL CONTACT HIGH

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Wednesday, 21 April 2004 23:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Cocktail would be better if it was called Bartender. Also better if Tom Cruise was killed by Scientologists in bizarre subplot.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Wednesday, 21 April 2004 23:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Also this soundtrack looks really bad. There are at least 5 songs on their I never want to hear again.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Wednesday, 21 April 2004 23:51 (twenty-two years ago)

look at this swizzle stick, some guy is making millions off of this sqizzle stick.

or something like that.

keith m (keithmcl), Wednesday, 21 April 2004 23:59 (twenty-two years ago)

Would anybody go to a bar called Cocktails & Dreams????

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Thursday, 22 April 2004 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

You guys are just asking for Cocktail -- The 20th anniversary edition come 2008.

donut bitch (donut), Thursday, 22 April 2004 00:03 (twenty-two years ago)

Better or worse than Coyote Ugly though? I'm saying worse cos Coyote Ugly has a shirtless Adam Garcia which must count for something.

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Thursday, 22 April 2004 00:03 (twenty-two years ago)

There's one in my town. But I've never been to it.
I think compared to the Top Gun sdtrk, Cocktail's okay. Or Caddyshack II. That's one bad soundtrack!

Huck, Thursday, 22 April 2004 00:03 (twenty-two years ago)

(x-post)Worse.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Thursday, 22 April 2004 00:04 (twenty-two years ago)

"Danger Zone" is a fine song!

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Thursday, 22 April 2004 00:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Better or worse than Coyote Ugly though? I'm saying worse cos Coyote Ugly has a shirtless Adam Garcia which must count for something.

Vs. Bryan Brown in Cocktail, who I sincerely hope was not shirtless in it at that point.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 22 April 2004 00:05 (twenty-two years ago)

don't fight the moonlight!

s1ocki (slutsky), Thursday, 22 April 2004 00:07 (twenty-two years ago)

Tutti Frutti is a bona fide classic though, so IMO that disqualifies it...I'm sure there's some other 80s soundtrack with nothing of any merit (and I have a strange affection for the Fabolous Thunderbirds)...

M@tt He1geson (Matt Helgeson), Thursday, 22 April 2004 00:11 (twenty-two years ago)

Woah!!

Someone's trying to ask $40 this thing?

Seller rating: one star, indeed.

N. (nickdastoor), Thursday, 22 April 2004 00:14 (twenty-two years ago)

(they're really bigging up the John Cougar Mellancamp angle.

N. (nickdastoor), Thursday, 22 April 2004 00:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Have you heard The Friends of Mr Cairo by Jon & Vangelis?

sundar subramanian (sundar), Thursday, 22 April 2004 00:48 (twenty-two years ago)

two years pass...
The TEEN WOLF SOUNDTRACK by the greatest landslide of all! See what paying Michael J Fox too much money can do?? Prevent you from affording even a fifth-rate artist. Man them songs are unlistenable. Gotta love that poorman's poorman's poorman's Doctor John dude doin that 'Gotta Go With the Flow Joe' track. And then you got the uptempo 'Win In the End' - lol; yeah, when I would lift weights back then, I replaced 'Eye of the Tiger' with that track on my workout mix, and what was with that drab-as-hell final track?? Absolutely horrendous!!

PS - and on 'Big Bad Wolf', didn't.....'The Wolf Sisters' rhyme 'you know I aint your grandma' with 'you know I aint your grandma'? Pathetic, it really is.
