Ooh new here...what a big messageforumboardthingummy

Just wondering with all the Jayz 'Grey' album remix albums and now London Booted, what do peeps think of this remix album thing? New artform or artistic concept or another soon-to-be hackneyed thing (he says while listening to Pavement vs Jayz...hmm I think Jayz might be done to death but is the concept still a good 'un?

hugs

Tim

(would post the Slacker (Pavement) Lp but it's dreadful...so is the Metallica one...doesn't mean the idea is broke tho...what do ya think?)

I've just downloaded track 1, Tim, and it's great. Thanks for the link.

Bootlegs are a Good Thing. Like any type of music, the goodness of the individual tune is down to the skills of its creator. I can't think of any genre that is inherently worthless or hackneyed.

Right, I've downloaded the whole thing now, and I love it. Some of it's amateurish, skronky, or just off-target (these are Good Things), and some of it's really well done, and it's great fun.

I'm now making a CD with the The Clash versions alternating with the boots, like a Version and Dub type thing. "Rudie Can't Fail" vs "The Power of Rebelution Can't Fail" = CLASSIC.

Seriously, I'd recommend giving it a listen.

Sounds cool...which ones did you like best?

At the moment, "Bubba's Got a Brand New Cadillac", "Power of Rebelution Can't Fail", "Spanish Bombs (Over Baghdad)", "This Girl Wants a Cheat" and "4 Hoarse Men". "Rebelution" probably fits best with its original.

Ooh I love this London Booted thing. "What About Brixton?" and "Fuck 'Em Boyo" are great too, as are a lot of the 'bonus' tracks! "Street Profile" and "Rhythm Of The Dub" are both fantastic.
