What a great album !!!
This is my favorite jazz album at this moment next to Mingus' "Blues and Roots"

Any thoughts on these 2 albums?

Give me some more suggestions on some other great jazz albums.

Is this one of his later "crap" albums?

No it isn't, Dada; it is probably his last really great, ass-kicking one though. Harpsichord is present here but used more subtly than it would be on later records. It provides a nice texture actually. Ayler's playing still burns. I'd say pick it up if you are a fan; I held off on this one for a while too, and that was a mistake.

I know I have Blues and Roots but I can't remember anything about it at the moment. Yesterday was Mingus's birthday! Anyway, looks like you're off to a good start Sej. What other stuff do you have? Get any one of Ornette Coleman's Atlantic records if you
don't have any yet...

sej - any of the John Coltrane releases on Impulse!.

John Bullabaugh (John Bullabaugh), Saturday, 24 April 2004 00:29 (twenty-two years ago)

sej, if you're leaning towards 60s avant garde try eric dolphy's "out there" and "out to lunch." you also might like grachan moncur's "evolution." if you're interested in jazz in general ... i could make a huge list.
