"genius of Rothko"

Donna Brown (Donna Brown), Friday, 23 April 2004 15:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Unless it's blaring ro you're being obnoxious with it, you're probably fine. Most people will probably assume that you're taking the audio tour.

Especially if you keep bouncing your head.

"The genius of Rothko only makes sense when juxtaposed with the jazzy palpable pop of Danny Wilson".

"Munch's despair is only more palpable when accompanied by the genius of Lenny Kravitz".

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Friday, 23 April 2004 15:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Or some Morton Feldman.

Stuart (Stuart), Friday, 23 April 2004 15:54 (twenty-two years ago)

If you bounce your head constantly while listening to a walkman, you're probably a douche anyhow ... and why are you in an art gallery then?

|OBEY|EYE|BO| (deangulberry), Friday, 23 April 2004 15:54 (twenty-two years ago)

'fact' w/one A 'cause I'm not Dutch or even pretend Dutch

Donna Brown (Donna Brown), Friday, 23 April 2004 15:54 (twenty-two years ago)

¡Ningún usted es el douche, bolso del douche!

The Huckle-Buck (Horace Mann), Friday, 23 April 2004 15:55 (twenty-two years ago)

I guess you could walk/sit around listening to one of morton feldman's long pieces on yr iPod ('for philip guston') while looking at the pictures, trying to find connections between the music and the art.

haha x-post

Nothing better than admiring the work of Pablo Picasso while listening to the song..."Pablo Picasso"!

latebloomer (latebloomer), Saturday, 24 April 2004 16:32 (twenty-two years ago)

i listened to the smiths at the murakami exhibit at the serpentine. I don't know why I did this. I must have been hungover.

kyle (akmonday), Saturday, 24 April 2004 17:12 (twenty-two years ago)

I listened to Radio Birdman while looking at a Group of Seven exhibit, this was to block out the horrible TV documentary the gallery had playing loudly on a loop, but I had a good time. I felt a bit guilty though, it seemed like the Tragically Hip or something would have been the "proper" choice.

(Doesn't one of Rothko post here regularly? I can't remember his pseudonym but I'm sure -.)

cozen (Cozen), Sunday, 25 April 2004 10:32 (twenty-two years ago)

I've done this regularly (I always have a walkman when I'm not with anyone), but I've never tried to match the music to the art. Orbital feels right for Rothko, for me. I can't imagine what would have suited the last few shows I went to (Richter, Judd, Brancusi) but I was with friends for all of those anyway.

This sounds like the scenario for a jeans commercial.

"It's much easier to condescend Warhol while listening to the profound musings of Soulja Slim"

peter $.., Saturday, 25 September 2004 18:31 (twenty-one years ago)

I think listening to ipods or walkmen in public is generally kind of lame, unless it's just to pass some really long train ride or boring work. I especially think that's true in Art Galleries, where you have another medium you're supposed to be focusing on. Art shouldn't need a cool soundtrack.
