I'm after the kind of stuff that can compete lyrically with the baddest gangsta rap....I'm sure it's out there!

Tommy McClennan - "Bottle Up and Go" (very much notable for Tommy's brazen, proud use of the word "nigger" in the song, despite being warned by fellow bluesmen to change the lyric. Big Bill Broonzy recalled attending a rocking party with McClennan, when Tommy decided to sing "Bottle It Up And Go"; upon hearing the lyrics, the crowd became irate and reportedly threw McClennan and Broonzy out a window.)

Robert Nighthawk - "Goin' Down to Eli's" (he's goin' down there to, uh, get his pistol out of pawn. Which he's gonna use to murder his baby).

Leroy Carr and Scrapper Blackwell - "Take a Walk Around the Corner" (yeah, him too)

Charley Patton - "Tom Rushen Blues" (hilarious and sad song where poor Charley recounts his efforts to run liquor; he keeps getting harassed by the local gendarmes)

Robert Johnson - "32-20 Blues" (More fun with Gunz and Bitchez)

OCP, if you are still online, you should tune in RIGHT NOW on your computer, here:

It's basically the best radio program ever. It will change your life. It's been going ever since I was a wee lad and it hasn't let up. My friend Steve Cushing delivers the goods, week after week. Check it out if you are still up. There are still two hours left in this week's show, and it's - as always- a good'un.
