Anything worth searching out?
Was John Goodsall really one of the great forgotten guitarists?

Classic. Search out the first seven releases.

Unorthodox Behavior and Moroccan Roll are definite classics, if only to hear Phil Collins singing in Sanskrit. Wasn't as much into the later albums I've heard, like Livestock or Masques.

I saw Jones and Goodsall in their band Tunnels perform at NEARFest last year. Kind of disappointing, actually; from what I understand, they experienced a lot of monitor problems, so they couldn't hear what was going on, and the drummer took a long, boooooring drum solo. That being said, Jones still is an incredible bassist--amazing what he can do.

Totally classic if only for Percy Jones, who is my biggest influence (along with Mick Karn).

I like Jaco well enough, but it hurts me to think how overlooked this guy's career was. All the Brand X albums are strong (my main problem with the band is guitarist John Goodsall, who is a little cheesy for my tastes).

Jones' work on other albums is truly amazing as well. These albums must be heard:

Ippu-Do: 'Night Mirage' (1983)
Masami Tsuchiya: 'Rice Music' (1982)
Melon: 'Do You Like Japan?' (1983?)

If anybody here is a fan of Jones of fretless bass and hasn't heard those albums, feel free to email and I can get the mp3's to you via Soulseek or AIM or something. They're like a genre unto themselves. Organic synth-pop!

Tunnels are okay...though not great. I wish Jones would form a new band or something. Like play with some hip indie guys or something and make fretless bass popular.

I once did a presentation on Percy Jones even, mostly talking about his unique style. I played some hip tracks and showed footage from his Bass Explorations video.
