I've never heard a single Unplugged track I've liked not by Nirvana. Are there any other good ones?

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Monday, 26 April 2004 03:59 (twenty-two years ago)

The Pearl Jam Unplugged Was Pretty Awesome
Especially "Porch"

Dude (The Yellow Dart), Monday, 26 April 2004 04:07 (twenty-two years ago)

Thank you for answering my question.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Monday, 26 April 2004 04:10 (twenty-two years ago)

The Kraftwerk one was pretty good. You could tell what songs they were doing by watching their eyebrows.

jazz odysseus, Monday, 26 April 2004 04:11 (twenty-two years ago)

Jay-Z's was good

Sym (shmuel), Monday, 26 April 2004 04:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Jaromil (Jaromil), Monday, 26 April 2004 04:26 (twenty-two years ago)

one of the Stone Temple Pilots songs

miloauckerman (miloauckerman), Monday, 26 April 2004 05:23 (twenty-two years ago)

Slayer "Unplugged" was awesome. When they played the opening riff from "Raining Blood" with a mandolin, I cried.

latebloomer (latebloomer), Monday, 26 April 2004 05:27 (twenty-two years ago)

remember the Yo! MTV Raps Unplugged, when LL Cool J did Mama Said... and he had big white chunks of deodorant in his pits but it didn't matter because the performance was so goddamn hot?

Dan Selzer (Dan Selzer), Monday, 26 April 2004 06:04 (twenty-two years ago)

"Mama Said Knock You Out" seconded. And I remember the pits.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Monday, 26 April 2004 12:41 (twenty-two years ago)

I liked the Cure's "The Walk" done with audience members playing kazoos.

Hammy (hammy), Monday, 26 April 2004 12:41 (twenty-two years ago)

Didn't they play "The Blood" on that one too?

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Monday, 26 April 2004 12:42 (twenty-two years ago)

The Walk seconded. I remember the show well but couldn't remember the song.

Barry Bruner (Barry Bruner), Monday, 26 April 2004 14:21 (twenty-two years ago)

I remember the very moment my at-the-time endless respect for Michael Stipe began to wane when REM performed "It's the End of the Yadda Yadda..." on Unplugged and he had to read the lyrics off of a print-out.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Monday, 26 April 2004 14:23 (twenty-two years ago)

I think my Stipe respect dwindled by the end of side two of Chronic Town....and it turned to flat-out loathing circa 1991, when he pulled that t-shirt-for-every-cause-under-the-sun stunt at the MTV Video Music Awards, branding him then and forever a king-sized tool.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Monday, 26 April 2004 14:27 (twenty-two years ago)

I like what I remember of Maxwell unplugged.

Barima (Barima), Monday, 26 April 2004 14:30 (twenty-two years ago)

Alice in Chains had a few killer unplugged tracks.

Jeanne Fury (Jeanne Fury), Monday, 26 April 2004 14:31 (twenty-two years ago)

The only Alice In Chains I can be fucked with to listen to anymore is their unplugged.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Monday, 26 April 2004 14:32 (twenty-two years ago)

Okay, forget the POX, I was under the impression that there were hundreds of Unplugged episodes. Sorry.

billstevejim, Monday, 26 April 2004 15:33 (twenty-two years ago)

The very first episode with Squeeze was great, specifically "Pulling Mussels."

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Monday, 26 April 2004 16:00 (twenty-two years ago)

OTM Johnny Fever. All those random, early episodes were cool with Squeeze, Michael Penn, the Church, etc. If I remember correctly, Soul Asylum also put on a good show.

subgenius (subgenius), Monday, 26 April 2004 23:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Neil Young - "Stringman"
Neil Young - "Like A Hurricane"
Neil Young - "Helpless"

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Monday, 26 April 2004 23:56 (twenty-two years ago)

whatever song Pearl Jam was doing when Eddie Vedder hopped on top of his stool and wrote either "pro-choice" or "Fugazi" on his arm.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Monday, 26 April 2004 23:57 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't even remember what song it was but it seemed Kiss actually was excited to play something off of Dynasty. I think they even played "A World Without Heroes."

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Monday, 26 April 2004 23:59 (twenty-two years ago)

jules shear, "repetition repetition repetition"

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 02:26 (twenty-two years ago)

I've never heard a single Unplugged track I've liked not by Nirvana. Are there any other good ones?

isnt the shakira one supposed to be like AMAZING?! i saw the cafe tabcuba one on tv the other day and it kicked ass. those guys are fun and good at music.

charleston charge (chaki), Tuesday, 8 March 2005 18:57 (twenty-one years ago)

I dunno if the shakira one as a whole was amazing, but the version of 'si ta vas' off that album sure is

minolta (minolta), Tuesday, 8 March 2005 23:50 (twenty-one years ago)

I was so excited when Bob Dylan played. Finally, a taste of a stripped down Dylan -- who'd of thunk he could've even pulled it off? But he made it work, somehow.

David Allen (David Allen), Wednesday, 9 March 2005 02:48 (twenty-one years ago)

er.. Björk anyone?

er......, Wednesday, 9 March 2005 02:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Jodeci's cover of Stevie Wonder's "Lately". OHHHH i love it

phil-two (phil-two), Wednesday, 9 March 2005 03:06 (twenty-one years ago)

I loved KISS's 'Sure Know Somethin'. Sounded great. And the Ace & Peter moment was glorious. My favorite PJ Unplugged song was Porch...and I'm pretty sure it was on Porch when Eddie started rocking out on his little swivel stool & swivelled right off it!! Heee hee. I also derive great joy in watching Dave Grohl using brushes during Nirvana unplugged...he just looks like all he wants to do is beat the crap out of the drums, like he's smiling through the pain of it all.

VegemiteGrrl (VegemiteGrrl), Wednesday, 9 March 2005 04:17 (twenty-one years ago)

poinson's - ya mama dont dance was rockin!

charleston charge (chaki), Wednesday, 9 March 2005 04:26 (twenty-one years ago)

REM - "Love Is All Around"

Seconded! And this was right - like, a month - before the song was just about irrepairably ruined by Wet Wet Wet.

joseph cotten (joseph cotten), Wednesday, 9 March 2005 04:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Stone Temple Pilots did a great version of "Wicked Garden" from what I remember.

Johnny Badlees (crispssssss), Wednesday, 9 March 2005 19:05 (twenty-one years ago)

second neil young's "like a hurricane" with the sweet pump organ.

heh heh. "pump organ."

andrew m. (andrewmorgan), Wednesday, 9 March 2005 19:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes, "Lately" by Jodeci is outstanding - narrowly missed out on my list.

billstevejim, Wednesday, 9 March 2005 20:21 (twenty-one years ago)

one year passes...
Wow, I totally disagree with that top ten. And who even says "POX" anymore? I'm going to stop dating myself so much.
