Punk bands that only actually released one great single? Ummmmmmm.....

The Cigarettes - They're Back Again Here They Come
The K9's - K9 Hassle
The Models - Freeze / Man Of The Year
The Physicals - All Sexed Up EP
Pseudo Existors - Stamping Out Normality EP
Pure Hell - These Boots Are Made For Walking
Sub-@ctive - Live In A Dream / Chaos In USSR

OK, maybe not the Sub-@ctive one.

Stewart Osborne (Stewart Osborne), Monday, 26 April 2004 09:51 (twenty-two years ago)

there was an entire album of Cigarettes material released a while back; "...Will Damage Your Health" I think it was called. I never heard it but apparently it was pretty good.

Daniel DiMAGGIO (Daniel DiMAGGIO), Monday, 26 April 2004 10:23 (twenty-two years ago)

the Fun Things! they had 4 songs I guess, but all on only one 7". Aussie p-rock that I reckon is better than anything R. Birdman ever did. Listen to "When The Birdmen Fly".

".... there was an entire album of Cigarettes material released a while back...."

I didn't know that but it does seem to have happened with quite a lot of bands that originally only released one or two singles (who on earth would want an entire CD of demos and dodgy live recordings by The Jerks?!?)

Stewart Osborne (Stewart Osborne), Monday, 26 April 2004 10:29 (twenty-two years ago)

the Hollywood Squares - Hillside Strangler
the Users - Sick Of You
that Heartattack song
I dunno, probably like half of the songs on every good KBD record.

The Middle Class EP, which formed part of my soundtrack walking to work this morning. Yay.

The Middle Class EP

Is that that one that goes "OUTOFVOGUE!!" a lot?

mark grout (mark grout), Monday, 26 April 2004 11:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Some Chicken - New Religion / Blood on the Wall
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

briania, Monday, 26 April 2004 12:01 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh, and why it's great: because at the end of "Blood on the Wall" you've got three different voices all shouting or screaming variations on the word "DEAD".

briania, Monday, 26 April 2004 12:20 (twenty-two years ago)

Plastic Bertrand - "Ca Plan Pour Moi"

Nick H (Nick H), Monday, 26 April 2004 12:22 (twenty-two years ago)

"one-off" as in "one hit wonder"?

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Monday, 26 April 2004 12:36 (twenty-two years ago)

Is that that one that goes "OUTOFVOGUE!!" a lot?

That's the one. It's fast as fuck, for the period (before any of the Dischord lot and before Bad Brains started in earnest)

DJ Mencap (DJ Mencap), Monday, 26 April 2004 13:03 (twenty-two years ago)

God that Fun Things ep is great.

The Distorted Levels' "Hey Mister." Because, uh...because. It's loud, and it's groovy.

M Specktor, Monday, 26 April 2004 14:06 (twenty-two years ago)

(xpost)

It was on Fast records' Earcom 3. Wonderful.

mark grout (mark grout), Monday, 26 April 2004 14:15 (twenty-two years ago)

The Endtables- Process of Elimination 7"

the pride of Louisville, Kentucky punk rock

Drew Daniel, Monday, 26 April 2004 16:10 (twenty-two years ago)

I've got the Cigarettes collection, nothing as good as the "hit."

So happy phil mentioned the Table, though I was going to mention "Sex Cells" which I got first and is forever stuck in my mind as this amazingly brutal punk genius thing.

here's 4 on the DIY tip

One Gang Logic-Alienate, it's like 2 notes
Versatile Newts-Blimp
Thin Yoghurts-Girl on the Bus
Funboy Five-Life After Death
