to someone in pyongyang, brooklyn and staten island aren't really much different--you have to think of the pitchfork readership

amateur!st (amateurist), Monday, 26 April 2004 10:05 (twenty-two years ago)

Pitchfork is aimed at North Koreans? Please tell me it's not their only news source.

N. (nickdastoor), Monday, 26 April 2004 10:19 (twenty-two years ago)

ODB is from Brooklyn, not?

JoB (JoB), Monday, 26 April 2004 10:52 (twenty-two years ago)

"the influential welsh post-punk band, Joy Division"

J0hn Darn1elle (J0hn Darn1elle), Monday, 26 April 2004 11:19 (twenty-two years ago)

"Belgian electronica Godfathers Kraftwerk"

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Monday, 26 April 2004 11:20 (twenty-two years ago)

"Mancunian pop kids The Beetless."

Sick Nouthall (Nick Southall), Monday, 26 April 2004 11:25 (twenty-two years ago)

They were based in Staten Island but ODB and RZA are from Brooklyn, so it isn't entirely false. What you CAN whine about, is the fact he forgot to mention ODB and U-God as members.

Rollie Pemberton (Rollie Pemberton), Monday, 26 April 2004 11:30 (twenty-two years ago)

rollie, I think they can whine about all of that!

scott pl. (scott pl.), Monday, 26 April 2004 11:36 (twenty-two years ago)

wait, actually no - that's just the lineup for one show, not a list of the group members.

scott pl. (scott pl.), Monday, 26 April 2004 11:37 (twenty-two years ago)

I wouldn't pay for a show without ODB. Actually, I wouldn't go to a Wu-Tang show, period, considering it'll just be 20 minutes of Inspectah Deck surrounded by murmuring Wu affiliates.

FINGERS CROSSED FOR KILLAH SIN

Rollie Pemberton (Rollie Pemberton), Monday, 26 April 2004 11:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Well Joy Division ARE often called Mancunian when they're from like Salford and Macclesfield, which is farther from Manchester than Brooklyn is from Staten Island. Still, asses.

ENRQ (Enrique), Monday, 26 April 2004 11:52 (twenty-two years ago)

Rollie c'mon I mean I know you gotta rep for the home office but calling the Wu-Tang clan a Brooklyn act is just way way ripe

J0hn Darn1elle (J0hn Darn1elle), Monday, 26 April 2004 12:23 (twenty-two years ago)

this is embarassing.

cutty (mcutt), Monday, 26 April 2004 12:48 (twenty-two years ago)

wu always rep for staten island. pitch was wrong but who gives a shit.

jjjj, Monday, 26 April 2004 12:49 (twenty-two years ago)

i do. it's the only news i read for current events, and i would like it to be accurate.

cutty (mcutt), Monday, 26 April 2004 13:00 (twenty-two years ago)

come on guys, i was being ironic

Nick Sylvester, Monday, 26 April 2004 13:13 (twenty-two years ago)

i wish they wouldn't include so much of that "the red tide of sccialism shall wash away all the powers of the earth" stuff in their indie pop reviews, it's distracting

amateur!st (amateurist), Monday, 26 April 2004 13:15 (twenty-two years ago)

i do. it's the only news i read for current events, and i would like it to be accurate.

Please don't rely on our Iraq coverage, we're just cribbing off Reuters and there are misspellings all over the place.

Chris Dahlen (Chris Dahlen), Monday, 26 April 2004 13:20 (twenty-two years ago)

drudge report headline:

pitchfork NOT fair and balanced in news SHOCKER.

cutty (mcutt), Monday, 26 April 2004 13:23 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, the concert date listings and album release dates are skewed way Republican.

Chris Dahlen (Chris Dahlen), Monday, 26 April 2004 13:25 (twenty-two years ago)

Australian pop legends the Clean!

mike a, Monday, 26 April 2004 14:13 (twenty-two years ago)

Fresh off soundtrack work for Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill trilogy (Hollywood reports there will be a third)

Um, this is more than a little questionable too - Quentin Tarantino has talked about eventually making another film set in the Kill Bill world 15 or so years from now, but it's hardly going to be a trilogy thing. Kill Bill Vol 1 and 2 are a complete work, and whatever film he makes in the future isn't necessarily the third part of some trilogy. That future film may never even be made!

Matthew Perpetua (Matthew Perpetua), Monday, 26 April 2004 14:17 (twenty-two years ago)

They fixed it to Staten Island, by the way.

Matthew Perpetua (Matthew Perpetua), Monday, 26 April 2004 14:18 (twenty-two years ago)

See, sometimes bitching on the internet does accomplish things.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Monday, 26 April 2004 14:21 (twenty-two years ago)

San Fernando Valley punkers the Minutemen.

briania, Monday, 26 April 2004 14:26 (twenty-two years ago)

Minneapolis website Pitchforkmedia.com

robmitchum., Monday, 26 April 2004 14:33 (twenty-two years ago)

Also, is it a proper "supergroup" when the group is what first made the members famous?

OleM (OleM), Monday, 26 April 2004 16:01 (twenty-two years ago)

"things"

Sym (shmuel), Monday, 26 April 2004 16:03 (twenty-two years ago)

they could've easily avoided this problem had they just called them a "legendary Shaolin hip-hop supergroup".

Al (sitcom), Monday, 26 April 2004 16:04 (twenty-two years ago)

YES, improper usage of "Supergroup."

-10 points

billstevejim, Monday, 26 April 2004 16:08 (twenty-two years ago)

regroup

cutty (mcutt), Monday, 26 April 2004 16:09 (twenty-two years ago)

And anyonme from NYC knows that "Staten Island" is more accurately spelled "Satan Island."

Ian in B'lyn, Monday, 26 April 2004 16:52 (twenty-two years ago)

"Although, if it's anything like Iron Flag, maybe it'd be better to just give it a rest already."

Idiot.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Monday, 26 April 2004 17:09 (twenty-two years ago)

C'mon, if Pitchfork had a fact checker it just wouldn't be Pitchfork. It'd probably be printed on paper.

mcd (mcd), Monday, 26 April 2004 17:38 (twenty-two years ago)

And that's still no guarantee of accuracy.

BanjoMania (Brilhante), Monday, 26 April 2004 18:07 (twenty-two years ago)

"Belgian electronica Godfathers Kraftwerk"

that'd be Telex actually.

jesus nathalie (nathalie), Monday, 26 April 2004 18:16 (twenty-two years ago)

Australian pop legends the Clean!

-- mike a (mik...), April 26th, 2004.

exactly.. if you counted the amount of times people have listed New Zealand bands as from 'down under' or as 'aussies', the whole music publishing world would be lynch-mobbed..

chris andrews (fraew), Monday, 26 April 2004 22:56 (twenty-two years ago)

no, i think they qualify as a supergroup now that several members have extremely high profile solo careers

amateur!st (amateurist), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 06:44 (twenty-two years ago)

exactly.. if you counted the amount of times people have listed New Zealand bands as from 'down under'

well, they're still from the Southern hemisphere...

OCP (OCP), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 09:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Antarctican band The Vines...

mark grout (mark grout), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 09:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Provincialism, how cute.

Squirrel_Police (Squirrel_Police), Wednesday, 28 April 2004 20:51 (twenty-two years ago)

cutty (mcutt), Wednesday, 28 April 2004 23:24 (twenty-two years ago)
