the ones I listed in my Shakin' Street review in my book Stairway to Hell: whole lotta shakin' going on, all shook up, shakin' all over, shake, shake your hips, shake your booty, you shook me all night long, eddie money's shakin, debbie gibson's shake your love. (shake your hips is slim harpo, i believe, and yeah, shake is the shadows of knight; the rest i would assume most people know.) (oddly, i did not list shakin street, by the MC5, the song for whom the excellent turn of the '80s French woman-led metal band Shakin Street were named in the first place!)

The Blasters had that one, I'm not sure if someone listed it, isn't it just called "Shake" or "Shakin'"? Also, a country hit, don't know who, the hook line goes, "What really turns me on... is the SHAKE!"

dr. phil (josh langhoff), Monday, 26 April 2004 16:46 (twenty years ago) link

the blasters song is a cover of little willie john's "i'm shakin'," mentioned above.

if we're talking about songs that have the phrase in the lyrics -- which i now realize we are -- we've gone an awful long time without anyone saying:

Glad someone mentioned U2's "A Celebration". I still can't believe that song isn't available on CD anywhere. Vinyl grooves do wear down over the years!
