Seems to get the short shrift. There is much meatist music out there, dominating the power structure.

shookout (shookout), Monday, 26 April 2004 16:40 (twenty-two years ago)

such as?

cutty (mcutt), Monday, 26 April 2004 16:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Such as Meat Loaf.

Tim Ellison, Monday, 26 April 2004 16:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Isn't morrissey enough?

bill stevens (bscrubbins), Monday, 26 April 2004 16:49 (twenty-two years ago)

propagandhi and consolidated have a few ace songs too.

Felonious Drunk (Felcher), Monday, 26 April 2004 16:50 (twenty-two years ago)

I just wanted to coin a new term inspired by ILM: meatist.

shookout (shookout), Monday, 26 April 2004 16:53 (twenty-two years ago)

As in ... Meat the Meatls? (God, where did that go?)

prostpilso (nestmanso), Monday, 26 April 2004 17:03 (twenty-two years ago)

Seriously, meatist is my new favorite word.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Monday, 26 April 2004 17:05 (twenty-two years ago)

meat beat manifesto

cutty (mcutt), Monday, 26 April 2004 17:05 (twenty-two years ago)

why doesn't vegetarian rock get its due?

Invariably because of a protein deficiency.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Monday, 26 April 2004 17:07 (twenty-two years ago)

you guys are such ilmists

astroblaster (astroblaster), Monday, 26 April 2004 17:09 (twenty-two years ago)

Meatism! It's like culinary rockism! The next time I'm in a restaurant I'm going to shout out "WHAT A TIRED OLD MEATIST APPROACH!".

nickalicious (nickalicious), Monday, 26 April 2004 17:10 (twenty-two years ago)

Courseism is culinary rockism. "You know, a good chef might have arranged a decent sequence there."

prostpilso (nestmanso), Monday, 26 April 2004 17:14 (twenty-two years ago)

HONOR THAT WHICH IS FLAME-BROILED!

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Monday, 26 April 2004 17:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Seems like a perfect opportunity to share this with you all :

Pete Sinfield - "Wholefood Boogie"

I want to bite a rosy apple
That's not painted waxed or DDT'd.
I'd dig a plate of russian buckwheat
With a steaming sauce of sesame seed.
Just cook me miso soup for breakfast
Throw your fishy fingers back in the sea
'Cos I'm a funky macro-eater life is sweeter
Eating naturally.

I've got no taste for stricken chicken
From an ultraviolet prison cell.
I couldn't face your shaving cream cake
Or your test tube flavoured caramel.
Don't serve me "BOILA BAGGA DINNA"
When I've shown you what I eat is me
And I'm a weird organic diner life is finer
Eating naturally.

Whole food that's what I need
A bowl of grain, the taste of seed,
Whole food every day to live the natural funky way.

You're so acute about pollution
Have you ever really looked at your food
It's sickly, sweetened, poisoned, flavoured,
Coloured, processed . . . . . God! if only you knew
That there's a funky way of eating
Keeps you randy, dandy, happy and free
Go on, go score yourself a banquet
Straight from nature, not from some factory.

Whole food etc. etc.

udu wudu (udu wudu), Monday, 26 April 2004 17:23 (twenty-two years ago)

Would Michael Jackson's "You're a vegetable" insults in "Wanna Be Startin' Something" qualify as Meatist?

dr. phil (josh langhoff), Monday, 26 April 2004 17:26 (twenty-two years ago)

Ah ah, ah ah
Ah ah, ah ah
You set my teeth on edge
You set my teeth on edge
You think you`re a vegetable
Never come out of the fridge
C-c-c-cucumber
C-c-c-cabbage
C-c-c-cauliflower
Men on Mars
April showers

KICK IT!

People over the age of 15 pay attention to Rev. Horton Heat?

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Monday, 26 April 2004 17:47 (twenty-two years ago)

Dude, my dad has seen the Rev. in concert ELEVEN TIMES. His concerts are among the most age diverse I've ever been to.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Monday, 26 April 2004 18:06 (twenty-two years ago)

there's a band in my hometown called Big Meat Hammer. I hear they're pretty badass in a suburban Maine sort of way.

j c (j c), Monday, 26 April 2004 18:32 (twenty-two years ago)

I guess I'm only a spudboy looking for a real tomato.

I just wanted to coin a new term inspired by ILM: meatist.

I'm sorry, but me and a friend already coined that term back in 1996. Of course, nowadays I'm a vegan and he's a vegetarian, so our meatism wasn't that effective.

When was the last time you went to a show where nobody yelled "Free Bird," and what did you think that song was about?

Ian Christe (Ian Christe), Monday, 26 April 2004 19:25 (twenty-two years ago)

I think Artemis definitely got with the sweetest meat.

there might be more vegan straight edge hardcore if everybody didn't grow out of that ...in one way or another. "down with the oppressive system! ok, now here's another oppressive system to fill the void in your life!"

not that there's anything wrong with all that... sxe beer bbq!

MDC's "Chicken Squawk" rules, OK?

Actually, I am a vegeterian, come to think of it... found some veggie pepperoni last week--surprisingly good....
