craig david - c or d

remember those first few singles he was involved with? great stuff - seven days, re-wind, fill me in! those other ballads - walking away and rendez-vous - were ok as well. i saw "born to do it" for cheap and i intend to buy it. i'm already sure that i've heard the best tracks on it, but that's ok, those gems alone make it worth a purchase.

sting collaboration = predictable poor, though. shame.

(predictably)

weasel diesel (K1l14n), Monday, 26 April 2004 21:12 (twenty-two years ago)

My response to this was going to be what you've just posted. Classic for "Re-Rewind", "Fill Me In", a couple of other tracks off the first album, dud for anything since, except that completely non-sensical Blacksmith ft Fallacy remix of the Sting single.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Monday, 26 April 2004 21:15 (twenty-two years ago)

I like Craig's stuff, obviously working with Sting is always ill-advised, the album's good although the singles are pretty much the best of it. More Classic than Dud, definitely.

noodle vague (noodle vague), Monday, 26 April 2004 21:37 (twenty-two years ago)

Search: all the Sunship remixes of his early singles. By-numbers, but they're *big* numbers.

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Monday, 26 April 2004 21:38 (twenty-two years ago)

I was so disappointed with "Walking Away" when it came out - that fucking acoustic guitar! It sounded like a less whiney Travis, and since then it's been dud dud dud.

(Classic first few singles obv, plus the bootleg of "Fill Me In" with Fischerspooner.)

The Lex (The Lex), Monday, 26 April 2004 21:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah that bootleg is good.

Plus there was a good Artful Dodger bootleg mix of "Fill Me In" that used the really mournful groove from a previous remix they'd done (which I loved four years ago but cannot remember at all now!). Also the propah Artful Dodger remix of the track sounded medieval!

I don't mind "Hidden Agenda" so much. It's like a distillation of all of Mark Hill's conservative impulses.

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Monday, 26 April 2004 21:45 (twenty-two years ago)

He's a good explanation of why R&B sucks nowadays...although he's not completely horrible....Walking Away was pretty good.

uh, Monday, 26 April 2004 21:46 (twenty-two years ago)

i like fill me in too, but have you heard the todd edwards remix?, it doesnt work at all

gareth (gareth), Monday, 26 April 2004 21:47 (twenty-two years ago)

I've just imagined that mix, gareth, and it sounds like it should work (to me, it sounds just like his remix of Bedingfool).

Barima (Barima), Monday, 26 April 2004 21:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Search: Bootleg of "Re-rewind" with Cylob's "Rewind".

Nick H (Nick H), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 11:01 (twenty-two years ago)

ooooh that sounds tasty.

hmmm (hmmm), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 11:28 (twenty-two years ago)

Lip-smackingly so.

Nick H (Nick H), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 12:04 (twenty-two years ago)

one year passes...
any thoughts on the new album?

i'm hooked on 'hypnotic' at the moment.

i think there's too much bland acoustic-flecked balladry on it, though.

weasel diesel (K1l14n), Monday, 29 August 2005 21:48 (twenty years ago)

He just can't seem to get it right. Poor thing.

dud except for rewind and a few decent pop songs he somehow managed to write/be a part of. good voice though. he just needs to sort out what it is he does exactly.

craig david all over your BOING

Suggesteban Cambiasso (jim), Friday, 10 April 2009 12:19 (seventeen years ago)

craig david has a song, "you don't miss your water 'til the well runs dry" or something along those lines. Of course you don't miss your water 'til the well runs dry, you still have water until the well drys so you're not very well going to be missing it.

Suggesteban Cambiasso (jim), Friday, 10 April 2009 12:21 (seventeen years ago)

you don't fully appreciate water until your well runs dry

Plaxico (I know, right?), Friday, 10 April 2009 12:32 (seventeen years ago)

Nothing, I swear NOTHING, makes me happier than hearing a freaking Craig David song on the radio. "What's Your Flavor," fucking A.

no, i was trying to revisit a lot of 2 step last week and it just doesn't hold up

fauxmarc, Friday, 10 April 2009 20:44 (seventeen years ago)

cause it isn't 2step?

Suggesteban Cambiasso (jim), Friday, 10 April 2009 20:51 (seventeen years ago)

I like him, but not sure this is how I'd handle it: denies any 'Rickrolling' effect

four years pass...

have heard two of this guy's songs in stores in less than a week - "Walking Away" and "Seven Days". missed those songs.

has he done anything of merit in recent years? I see he's been plugging away, musically speaking.

Neanderthal, Saturday, 5 April 2014 17:46 (twelve years ago)

saw "fill me in" at a record store today and was like "do i really need to buy fill me in" and then i played this remix on the b side and my body melted into a puddle of champagne

Always preferred the Full Crew Remix

Still think this was the best song on that album
