Yeah, but the invite to a private session, and all that?

That's probably the nicest cancellation / refund / alternate event ever. If you're a TG fan anyhow.

the idea of a private session sounds ok but, just think of all the people who booked flights from europe/us etc and no longer have anywhere to stay over those days...

Jack Battery-Pack (Jack Battery-Pack), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 09:27 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh yeah, still a bit of a drag and all that, admittedly. But compared to the usual 'gig cancelled, refunds at point of purchase' that's it scenario...

mark grout (mark grout), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 09:30 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah but you can use yr refunded money to get a place to stay, non?

"TG have decided to invite all CURRENT ticket holders to a PRIVATE RECORDING SESSION at a secret location in central London on the AFTERNOON of Sunday May 16th"

Doesn't this sound a bit small and intimate?
Won't that be difficult if all 1600 RE:TG ticket holders decide to go?

Onimo (GerryNemo), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 11:51 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm guessing therefore that it isn't going to be in yer conventional recording studio

DJ Mencap (DJ Mencap), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 12:13 (twenty-two years ago)

One of the musicians who was on the bill told me that the organizers didn't even bother to tell the other artists of the cancellation. Many of these artists built their spring around the event, bought their plane tickets, and probably don't care whether they get to see TG record...

I can't think of one studio in Central London that could hold 1600 odd people in a spectator fashion, they might have to do it in a venue. S'hardly Heathen Earth is it?

mzui, Tuesday, 27 April 2004 12:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Will they list all 1600 people's name on the resultant "product"? it's the least the useless old bastards can do isn't it?

Throbbing Gristle as the new John Otway shokka!

mark grout (mark grout), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 12:38 (twenty-two years ago)

Well they did it on "Heathen Earth" didn't they? mind you there was only 25 of them there

>One of the musicians who was on the bill told me that the organizers didn't even bother to tell the other artists of the cancellation.

I can confirm this. It's been mostly silence from the organizers for months.

Really annoying. Right down to the press release which essentially blames the fans for not buying enough tickets. 'Only' 1600 people bought tickets. Hey Dada I'm crashing at your place on saturday and sunday, okay?

>One of the musicians who was on the bill told me that the organizers >didn't even bother to tell the other artists of the cancellation.

I had a very similar conversation at a gig in Vienna last night.
