Reviving this just because "Hide & Seek" deserves another mention. It's a great song. The entire "Human's Lib" album is still quite nice too (although I loved it way more back then than I do now), but that track is his one and only ultimate classic.

"Things Can Only Get Better" was my shit when I was like eight. "Woah Woah Wo-oh-oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh..."
It still sounds great!

"New Song". 1984, whatta year.

"New Song" is from 1983 though (and whatta year!)

No One Is To Blame is indisputably classic, I had to double-check that it wasn't a cover of some golden standard. The Scrittish italo of Things Can Only Get Better is good, but Assault And Battery is the best uptempo number for me despite all the bombast.
Jones' vocal acrobatics really shine in the quieter moments, such as the beatless section towards the end of Equality and in Don't Always Look At The Rain, Why Look For The Key... but it can get way schmaltzy (Elegy, Hunger For The Flesh). I think Tears For Fears ripped an entire page off Human's Lib.

I don't change the local eighties station when I hear "No One is to Blame" (one of the more restrained Phil Collins production jobs, and would be a classic if a real singer covered it) or "Things Can Only Get Better."

The title of "Assault And Battery" is probably the closest you'll ever get to an evidence that the Genesis influence on Howard Jones' music was no coincidence.

30 Years ago Howard Jones released a song entitled 'New Song' which called on listeners to challenge their preconceived ideas and throw off their mental chains. To celebrate this anniversary Howard is planning two special UK shows. The shows will be split in three parts, the first an unplugged acoustic set including some rarely performed tracks. The final set will be electric, celebrating his best known songs and highlights from his career. The middle part of the show will be the debut of a brand new work, a multimedia performance written especially for these shows.

Listening to Human's Lib now. Wow, this is a lot more happy-computer Yellow Magic Orchestra than I was expecting.

Liked "Hide And Seek," didn't dislike the title track of Human's Lib (electro-Squeeze), haven't heard anything by him for yonks but IIRC title track of Dream Into Action was OK too. Also he co-wrote "Round Round."
