Simon R on the elective affinities between blogs and grime.

Sterling work, but is this just wistful thinking? (I really just wanted to link this because of the tribute to MC at the end of the post.)

For all the talk of some kind of structural 'secret sharing' between the blogger and the MC, it seems to me part of a much simpler and older tradition: middle class fetishisation of difficult to find, culturally other, artifacts: cf kids like Mick and Keef and Brian obsessivly collecting, and theorizing, obscure blues back in the early 60s.

Wistful thinking or wishful thinking? Or both?

Il double la mise du plaisir par la linguistique, les amphibologies chères à Barthes, l'érotique blogosphère.

OK so you can speak Italian, am I supposed to be impressed?

But anyway: that (g)rhyme!

Nice Penmanship

I do not hail from Inverness. My mum has never made linguini. I do not think that the Junior Boys stink; simply that they are not as great as everyone else seems to be claiming.

However, I do like the "Barthes crossed with Gambaccini" line, especially in view of my physical resemblance to the latter.

"MC flex best

My current view is that Barthes flexes best in shorter texts and Gambaccini in longer ones.

I prefer Rimbaud to Gambo
