i nearly put the mingus big band myself, but decided to keep it to a narrow focus. i think these things are kept better by not being diverse, but by being thematically stringent

gareth (gareth), Wednesday, 28 April 2004 10:14 (twenty-two years ago)

I think the idea is you don't just do music things.

Jerry the Nipper (Jerrynipper), Wednesday, 28 April 2004 10:14 (twenty-two years ago)

g-unit will be reading selected passages from tristam shandy

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Wednesday, 28 April 2004 10:16 (twenty-two years ago)

you see, i'm kind of opposed to it being music and other stuff as well, i dont like this mishmashing of different things together. i guess they could show 2001 or metropolis on a backdrop though;)

ok, ok, manga then

Jerry the Nipper (Jerrynipper), Wednesday, 28 April 2004 10:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Can I choose all of the soulless facsimile garage rock copyists (every second band in London for starters) and burn them live on stage each night to a backdrop of early Jim O'Rourke drone pieces?

Stewart Gardiner (Stewart Gardiner), Wednesday, 28 April 2004 10:42 (twenty-two years ago)

it would be better if you burnt jim o'rourke

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Wednesday, 28 April 2004 10:47 (twenty-two years ago)

I'd pay money to see that - but only if they burnt his records with him

Dadaismus (Dada), Wednesday, 28 April 2004 10:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Sorry, I obviously cannot curate that, being as I am a huge O'Rourke fan.... How much money would you pay?

Stewart Gardiner (Stewart Gardiner), Wednesday, 28 April 2004 11:02 (twenty-two years ago)

Not that much, I can burn them at home

Dadaismus (Dada), Wednesday, 28 April 2004 11:05 (twenty-two years ago)

Best be careful with the fumes in an enclosed space.

Stewart Gardiner (Stewart Gardiner), Wednesday, 28 April 2004 11:07 (twenty-two years ago)

what's with the o'rouke hate?! He has produced some good stuff (one of smog's best records), got some good recs reissued, played on that totally great phil niblock release and performed on cardew's treatise. oh, and sonic youth.

Maybe his solo stuff ain't all that (I prob expressed some hate round these parts bcz of it) but there's lots of reasons to like him.

my Meltdown evening:

AMM with derek bailey (morning)
AMM with dizzee rascal (afternoon)
AMM with pinefox (he will read passages from finnegans wake whilke amm perform passages from cardew's treatise, with laser show and pics of the score on a big screen).

ILX live - 100 cast-iron regular, 100 now-and-agains and 50 collared-off-the-street 15 year old Kanye West, John Cena and Slipknot fans all talk over each other whilst Andrew furiously edits the audio into the correct ILX shape to be broadcast over the PA whilst solemly adding "Show All Details | Subscribe | RSS | Moderation Request | New Answers Logout | Settings | Problem? || Search | Random | Users | FAQ | Log | Admin Log" at the end of every piece. Background tapestry made by the kids of St. Phlebas Primary of that pic of Momus nude.(Queen Elizabeth Hall)
