I'm not on my ibook right now so I can't check it out, but it sounds kind of interesting. They've been running those Celebrity Playlists for a while, so I guess this is an outgrowth of that. This part is what caught my attention, though:
-----------------------------------------------------
Instant Fame

You can rate iMixes posted by other music lovers, sending them up and down the charts. Of course, they get to rate yours, too, so you’ll need a thick skin, just like any artist who puts her creative works on public display. iTunes displays top-rated iMixes right on the album pages, so if you’re really good, you’ll see your mix right next to your favorite artist. And so will millions of other iTunes users, who can easily browse your other iMixes.
-----------------------------------------------------

What do ILMers think? Interesting new feature? Is it going to actually feature any interesting playlists?

It sounds great. Unfortunately, there's still no word on when the iTunes store will be available in the UK.

What's the holdup on launching in the UK? Is Apple just being lazy, or are there legal issues?

Legal, yes.

Sounds like Audioscrobbler, only tied into the ITMS.

it's pretty useless when 99.8 percent of the music in your computer is not available on the iTunes Music Store.

Way to alert the RIAA to your slsk activities basically...

As Dan sez: iMix is utterly useless for anyone with lots of music. Which is a real shame, 'cos it's a fantastic idea.

Acute Records releases ARE available via iTunes, though.

If macrumors.com is to be believed, it seems like iTunes Europe is a matter of being only a few weeks away.
