The new EP by Autechre?

Tuomas (Tuomas), Wednesday, 28 April 2004 17:39 (twenty-two years ago)

The first is "Come Sail Away".
The second is "Beetlebum".

Barry Bruner (Barry Bruner), Wednesday, 28 April 2004 17:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Do you mean "Come Sail Away" by Styx? I listened to it, but it's not that.

You sunk my battleship!

Sasha (sgh), Thursday, 29 April 2004 04:25 (twenty-two years ago)

I know C2, but how do you play a C1 chord?

Squirrel_Police (Squirrel_Police), Thursday, 29 April 2004 04:45 (twenty-two years ago)

I found a MIDI file of Beetlebum and listened to it, but it doesn't match this melody either.
C1 and C2 are simple tones, not chords. C1 is the 262-hertz tone and C2 is the tone which is one octave above C1.

need rhythms. the second one feels a bit like a Souza marching band tune or summat

zebedee (zebedee), Thursday, 29 April 2004 15:08 (twenty-two years ago)

OK, sorry, I wasn't being serious.
Of course, with tones it is nearly impossible to decipher the tune without a time signature or any semblance of note duration.

To help you, I made for each of these melodies a program which plays it through the built-in loudspeaker. The programs can be downloaded from www.cti.ecp.fr/~drsekf5/Melodies. If it plays too quickly or too slowly, tell me and I'll adjust the tempo.

m. (mitchlnw), Sunday, 2 May 2004 20:16 (twenty-two years ago)

are you in kraftwerk?
or in the residents?

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Sunday, 2 May 2004 20:23 (twenty-two years ago)

haha, the beginning is reminiscent of the Come Sail Away piano intro

uh, Monday, 3 May 2004 00:12 (twenty-two years ago)

it's really a song the kid wrote and he's trying to see if we can come up with any songs it sounds like before he publishes it.
