Brian Turner (btwfmu), Friday, 30 April 2004 03:20 (twenty-two years ago)

Now if most of them SING in German...

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 30 April 2004 03:26 (twenty-two years ago)

what, keine Pavement? well, Preston School is as good as it gets , I guess :)

Donna Brown (Donna Brown), Friday, 30 April 2004 03:27 (twenty-two years ago)

yah for babara manning, PSOI and chris knox.. dunno about the rest..

chris andrews (fraew), Friday, 30 April 2004 03:37 (twenty-two years ago)

Chris Knox's Hip Priest should be cool.

The Tocotronic song roughly translates as 'Last night I dreamt I ate pizza with Mark E. Smith', I think.

Anyway, I'd like to get my mitts on this.

Sasha (sgh), Friday, 30 April 2004 03:47 (twenty-two years ago)

the PSOI song is on their latest single too

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 30 April 2004 04:09 (twenty-two years ago)

It's not on the label site. I guess after May 3rd, it will be.

mark grout (mark grout), Friday, 30 April 2004 07:39 (twenty-two years ago)

this looks like a nightmare.

locust fudge, t'wat the fuck!!

ddb, Friday, 30 April 2004 18:33 (twenty-two years ago)

I have only heard of I, Ludicrous, The Preston School of Industry and, surprisingly, The Hector Collectors.

Bands who love the Fall tend to be appalling, unfortunately.

N. (nickdastoor), Friday, 30 April 2004 19:23 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm guessing that's Chris Brokaw ex-Come/Codeine/The New Year, etc.

And Chris Cacavas is ex-Rank And File or one of those type bands,

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Friday, 30 April 2004 19:47 (twenty-two years ago)

Covering the Fall sounds incredibly difficult and somewhat pointless.

NA (Nick A.), Friday, 30 April 2004 19:52 (twenty-two years ago)

I concur. After hearing Pavement's blah version of "The Classical" I'm less than thrilled at the idea of PSOI doing 'Mere Pseud Mag Ed," which would REALLY require enthusiasm.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Friday, 30 April 2004 19:53 (twenty-two years ago)

though Barbara Manning doing "Paintwork" seems plausibly enjoyable.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Friday, 30 April 2004 19:54 (twenty-two years ago)

Fiery Furnaces did a kickass version of "Winter"

and i vouch for my man Jeff Lewis as well, tho I haven't heard the track

roger adultery (roger adultery), Friday, 30 April 2004 20:21 (twenty-two years ago)

man, how did I miss that Jowe Head has a track on this! Dude wrote my favorite Swell Maps song ever, "Harmony In Your Bathroom."

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Friday, 30 April 2004 20:24 (twenty-two years ago)

(ok maybe second favorite after "Let's Build A Car")

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Friday, 30 April 2004 20:24 (twenty-two years ago)

I saw Prolapse do a very believable cover of "Eat Yrself Fitter" back in 1994-5 in LA.

gygax! (gygax!), Friday, 30 April 2004 20:30 (twenty-two years ago)

Best Swell Maps songs: "Full Moon" and "Read About Seymour"

(adopts Lovejoy voice) "oh...they're all good..."

roger adultery (roger adultery), Friday, 30 April 2004 20:55 (twenty-two years ago)

Lovejoy OTM

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Friday, 30 April 2004 20:56 (twenty-two years ago)

eleven years pass...

I've never heard this aside from the brilliant takes by Barbara Manning and Chris Knox. Not sure I want to hear the rest. But it brings to mind the question, what are the best Fall covers?

Gerald McBoing-Boing, Thursday, 14 January 2016 00:59 (ten years ago)

nine years pass...

Bands who love the Fall tend to be appalling, unfortunately.
Are you sure?
