From NME:
A musical based on the life of JOHN LENNON is set to open next year.

The Broadway musical, 'Lennon', follows the songwriter's life growing up in working class Merseyside to his assassination in New York in 1980.

The play has the blessing of his widow, Yoko Ono, and will use songs he wrote as a solo artist, reports Variety.

The show will open in San Francisco on February 1, 2005 before moving to New York a week later.

You know I quite liked len. Sand in the machine that was the Beatles etcet. But the twentyplus years of crying and canonisation makes me want to lie down and sigh. Oh, I just did.

I prophesy disaster. This *must* flop. The thought of the entire cast singing 'Imagine' is giving me the willies. Make it stop!

Who's writing the "book"?

Is it Ben Elton?

Let's hope so. He did such a fantastic job with those Queen, Rod Stewart and Strawberry Switchblade efforts.
