Okay, so, in this thread, tell us about awesome shows that went down in your hometown you that you missed because they weren't very well promoted (or in some cases NOT PROMOTED AT ALL). Or something.

At The Drive In/Get Up Kids in a very small room, cause I was in 9th grade.

When I was in law school Ron Sexsmith came and played the campus bar in 1999 (very small place that holds about 120 people). I hadn't heard a thing about the show. I was furious. Nobody ever came to Fredericton, New Brunswick, so this would have been a treat.
My roommate's boyfriend, who knows I would have gone to the show (and who owns one cd of celtic music) went to the bar that night to get drunk with his buddies. He called our place at 2 am, AFTER THE SHOW, to see if he could come over. Luckily he didn't, or I would've kicked his drunk ass all over the apartment.

This same thing happened last year. I will never forget how much this pissed me off. The same venue too. When my band played at Varsity Blue on a Friday night, I found one lone teeny tiny flyer for a show that had occurred on the previous Tuesday. The performer? CEE-FUCKING-LO.

The people that run that place are such fucking douchebags.

I don't know what Varsity Blue's story is, but with the bar at UNB, it was funded by the school so they really didn't care if people came or not. They figured they'd get the regulars who just showed up to drink, and that was good enough for them. Really shitty for me, and for the performers.
