Docu/Film at Chernobyl Site with Band Leader

I saw this part of this documentary if one could call it that about ten years ago, probably while living in Denver, in which this weird guy is walking around a nuclear hot site with a Geiger counter daring himself to go further and further into no man’s land. I only saw a portion of it and no background was given. I took away from it that this guy was a lead singer from an cultish Indie band, some type of self anointed Messiah savant. For some reason I convinced myself that he was Anton from Brianjonestown Massacre but this is just a guess and most likely wrong.

It is not a lot to go on, do you have any clue what this documentary was called? Was it just public access programming? It was very haunting, obviously, as I only saw about 15 minutes of it ten years ago. The guy is walking through what I believe is the abandon Chernobyl site. At some point he leaves the Geiger counter behind and walks through the demarcation line.

At the end of the day, his girlfriend?, who is doing the filming and him sight in there hotel room discuss the day.

He's still alive, but his typing has gone to pot.

For what it's worth, Chernobyl isn't actually abandoned, as this fine book will tell you. You can even take guided tours there now.
