strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Friday, 14 May 2004 20:01 (twenty-two years ago)

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Friday, 14 May 2004 20:01 (twenty-two years ago)

"rolling over" = "drinking moonshine"?

David R. (popshots75`), Friday, 14 May 2004 20:08 (twenty-two years ago)

"bubba sparxxx" = "strongo hulkington"

Puffy should fire isaac and take over on vocals.

christhamrin (christhamrin), Friday, 14 May 2004 20:28 (twenty-two years ago)

The new album is B/B+, but "Lonesome Crowded West" is the best portrayal of the contemporary American West I've come across in any artistic medium.

dieblucasdie (dieblucasdie), Friday, 14 May 2004 21:13 (twenty-two years ago)

ANY medium?

s1ocki (slutsky), Friday, 14 May 2004 21:15 (twenty-two years ago)

yes, any medium. "Winter in the Blood" is #2.

dieblucasdie (dieblucasdie), Friday, 14 May 2004 21:19 (twenty-two years ago)

and I did say "that I've come across."

dieblucasdie (dieblucasdie), Friday, 14 May 2004 21:20 (twenty-two years ago)

I've never heard P.W.L.B.N., but it sounds so so def.

Damn - the Olsen twins have pretty good taste - though to be fair, I haven't seen their picks in spring shoes yet.

o. nate (onate), Sunday, 16 May 2004 01:28 (twenty-two years ago)

You seem stupid! EMOOOOOOOO!

24 hours with the King of Snake. (SNAKE!) (ex machina), Sunday, 16 May 2004 01:32 (twenty-two years ago)

when do they turn 18?!

peter $ (peter $), Sunday, 16 May 2004 01:33 (twenty-two years ago)

What? The Postal Service album is pretty good. I haven't heard the Modest Mouse, but I've always thought they're at least not terrible. They did a nice tune on Letterman the other night, complete with banjo.

o. nate (onate), Sunday, 16 May 2004 01:36 (twenty-two years ago)

I AM THINKING IT'S A SIGN THAT THE FRECKLES
IN OUR EYES ARE MIRROR IMAGES AND WHEN
WE KISS THEY'RE PERFECTLY ALIGNED
AND I HAVE TO SPECULATE THAT GOD HIMSELF
DID MAKE US INTO CORRESPONDING SHAPES LIKE
PUZZLE PIECES FROM THE CLAY
TRUE, IT MAY SEEM LIKE A STRETCH, BUT
ITS THOUGHTS LIKE THIS THAT CATCH MY TROUBLED
HEAD WHEN YOU'RE AWAY WHEN I AM MISSING YOU TO DEATH
WHEN YOU ARE OUT THERE ON THE ROAD FOR
SEVERAL WEEKS OF SHOWS AND WHEN YOU SCAN
THE RADIO, I HOPE THIS SONG WILL GUIDE YOU HOME

THEY WILL SEE US WAVING FROM SUCH GREAT
HEIGHTS, 'COME DOWN NOW,' THEY'LL SAY
BUT EVERYTHING LOOKS PERFECT FROM FAR AWAY,
'COME DOWN NOW,' BUT WE'LL STAY...

I TRIED MY BEST TO LEAVE THIS ALL ON YOUR
MACHINE BUT THE PERSISTENT BEAT IT SOUNDED
THIN UPON LISTENING
THAT FRANKLY WILL NOT FLY. YOU WILL HEAR
THE SHRILLEST HIGHS AND LOWEST LOWS WITH
THE WINDOWS DOWN WHEN THIS IS GUIDING YOU HOME

INSIPID!!!!1

24 hours with the King of Snake. (SNAKE!) (ex machina), Sunday, 16 May 2004 01:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Ha ha, a friend sent me this lyrics as proof that the Postal Service were GOOD! He said they were able to write about love in an "original way"! HAHAHA

Postal Service are shit times 100 million.

Was the original post her writen using Burrough's cut up machine on all of ILM?

David Allen (David Allen), Sunday, 16 May 2004 01:45 (twenty-two years ago)

postal service and john ashcroft are whats wrong w/this world

x post

insipid and emotionally manipulative

christhamrin (christhamrin), Sunday, 16 May 2004 01:48 (twenty-two years ago)

There are worse faults in pop music than having insipid lyrics! There would be only 10 love songs made a year if they were held to your standards. And that song has a great hook anyway, so who cares about the freckles. I don't look to P.S. for profundity, just good drum programming and melodies.

o. nate (onate), Sunday, 16 May 2004 01:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Look to Wolf Eyes, you fucking ponce!!!!

24 hours with the King of Snake. (SNAKE!) (ex machina), Sunday, 16 May 2004 01:57 (twenty-two years ago)

wolf eyes doesn't have melodies, jon; don't lie to yourself.

BUT THE POSTAL SERVICE DO SUCK THE DONGLE!!!! listen to the dismemberment plan or enon or something.

Ian Johnson (orion), Sunday, 16 May 2004 01:58 (twenty-two years ago)

People say stupid stuff when they're in love, that's part of what makes it great. And that's why people who aren't in love tend to gag when they're forced to be around cooing lovebirds.

o. nate (onate), Sunday, 16 May 2004 01:58 (twenty-two years ago)

xpost

I have, I can't stand either of them.

o. nate (onate), Sunday, 16 May 2004 01:59 (twenty-two years ago)

weirdo.

Ian Johnson (orion), Sunday, 16 May 2004 02:00 (twenty-two years ago)

I'll cop to weirdness.

o. nate (onate), Sunday, 16 May 2004 02:01 (twenty-two years ago)

What dont you like about them?

David Allen (David Allen), Sunday, 16 May 2004 02:08 (twenty-two years ago)

Well, actually, I may not have heard Enon. But as for Dismemberment Plan, I downloaded a few of their songs, back when they were getting hyped relentlessly on Pitchfork, and they really weren't my cup of tea. It's hard for me to put on my finger on exactly why. I think I just found their songs a bit lacking.

o. nate (onate), Sunday, 16 May 2004 03:32 (twenty-two years ago)

YOU SEEM SO STUPID

24 hours with the King of Snake. (SNAKE!) (ex machina), Sunday, 16 May 2004 03:33 (twenty-two years ago)

Burn!

christhamrin (christhamrin), Sunday, 16 May 2004 03:34 (twenty-two years ago)

Geez, you guys are harsh. I think I'll go crawl back in my hole now.

o. nate (onate), Sunday, 16 May 2004 03:34 (twenty-two years ago)

(with the Olsen twins)

o. nate (onate), Sunday, 16 May 2004 03:35 (twenty-two years ago)

don't pay any attention to jon; he's just a belligerent, balding and too into krautrock.

Ian Johnson (orion), Sunday, 16 May 2004 03:35 (twenty-two years ago)

its funny because jon always seems so articulate and intelligent!

christhamrin (christhamrin), Sunday, 16 May 2004 03:36 (twenty-two years ago)

oh god i hope that's sarcasm.

Ian Johnson (orion), Sunday, 16 May 2004 03:38 (twenty-two years ago)

Really, it's been fun, but it is to sleep.

(I will check out Wolf Eyes one of these days.)

o. nate (onate), Sunday, 16 May 2004 03:52 (twenty-two years ago)

the olsen twins forked this thread into etc. dismemberment plan doesn't fit. they're too close to mike patton type shit, but bad at it, simple, insipid, boring. no words need to describe the vocals. so mary-kate doesn't have good taste
modest mouse doesn't fall under insipid lyrics, because even if they are isaac brock has an 8-year-old-boy+70-year-old-man tone in his voice and, no matter what anyone says, his bukowski references are nearly unpretentious

peter $ (peter $), Sunday, 16 May 2004 05:37 (twenty-two years ago)

but yeah, that bubba sparxxx thing. he paints a real picture cuz his lyrics are clear and bright, real rap. i can picture him writhing in his sleep to modest mouse blaring out a car stereo thru his bedside window. maybe they're midwestern rap

peter $ (peter $), Sunday, 16 May 2004 05:43 (twenty-two years ago)

what? what is happening? d-plan = patton? the room is spinning. i go to bed now.

christhamrin (christhamrin), Sunday, 16 May 2004 05:47 (twenty-two years ago)

hey dummies: what is this thread about?

shut up, Sunday, 16 May 2004 05:48 (twenty-two years ago)

dismemb plan sounds hardcore

peter $ (peter $), Sunday, 16 May 2004 05:50 (twenty-two years ago)

they have mosh parts

24 hours with the King of Snake. (SNAKE!) (ex machina), Sunday, 16 May 2004 05:52 (twenty-two years ago)

BROCK NOT GUILTY

peter $ (peter $), Sunday, 16 May 2004 05:58 (twenty-two years ago)

According to a friend, last night the Olsen Twins hosted SNL and at the end goodnight thing one of them said "Hey guys we're legal in 4 weeks!"

What a fucked up self-image they must have.

David Allen (David Allen), Sunday, 16 May 2004 18:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Isn't that playfully ironic self-empowerment?

noodle vague (noodle vague), Sunday, 16 May 2004 18:05 (twenty-two years ago)

Lindsay Lohan already did a joke about her being legal in a few weeks when she hosted a couple weeks ago.

-- noodle vague (noodle_vagu...), May 16th, 2004.

I'd say making a joke about how everyone would like to rape them is disgusting no matter the intent. And kind of weirder because they probably didnt actually write the line.

David Allen (David Allen), Sunday, 16 May 2004 20:21 (twenty-two years ago)

haha jon i love you

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Sunday, 16 May 2004 20:25 (twenty-two years ago)

Reading material of shame - I read the People expose on Hollywood's Out of Control Divas this week. It was lame - OMG, rich 17-18 year old girls are going out and drinking WITH GUYS!!!

Esquire's movie critic did a thing about reviewers carefully wording their reviews to avoid sounding like pervs (he didn't single out Ebert as the exception, though).

miloauckerman (miloauckerman), Sunday, 16 May 2004 20:30 (twenty-two years ago)
