She's not really a groupie.

That picture was taken by Mike Simonetti a year or 2 ago at APT, I think while James Murphy and DJ Hell were DJing.

Dan Selzer (Dan Selzer), Wednesday, 26 May 2004 16:19 (twenty-two years ago)

I like it! It's a good picture, altho your new do is nice too.

hstencil (hstencil), Wednesday, 26 May 2004 16:20 (twenty-two years ago)

also, I believe Glenn is playing WITH Tono-Bungay, which should be amazing, or at least very very interesting. We'll have CDs to sell and maybe even trendy little pins to give away. You know, for your sports jacket and messenger bags, you trendy little hipsters, represent Acute Records!

Also, afterwords, Mike and I, the Crazy Rhythms Disorderlies, will be DJing upstairs, which should be really interesting. We'll play rocking disco and funk for the regulars and throw in as many leftfield oddities as possible, so if you can stomach the crowd, stick around, it should be interesting.

That picture, and many more of me, can be found scattered through the Troubleman society page.

Dan Selzer (Dan Selzer), Wednesday, 26 May 2004 16:22 (twenty-two years ago)

I cannot wait for Tono-Bungay, they have been a fave for a long time and I've never seen them.

hstencil (hstencil), Wednesday, 26 May 2004 16:24 (twenty-two years ago)

I didn't realize that you are DJing upstairs afterwards.
that's perfect...

I met Bob Bannister on the Drone On mailing list while in college and invited him to come out and play Oberlin. They opened up for Guided By Voices, this would be 96, I think, and while nobody had heard of them, everyone really loved them. There music was fun, it was indie-rock, it was improv, it was noisy, it was folky, etc etc. The drummer did/does this thing with a ton of drum stricks that was hilarious. Then after I graduated they were invited back to play again apparently. While living at home in NJ after graduation I came into the city to see Belle and Sebastian play their first show in NYC for CMJ, which of course was sold out, and ran into Bob on the street. He directed me to some Azusa Plain space rock showcase or something. Anyway, I run into Bob occasionally at shows, super nice guy. He emailed me a year or two ago just as everyone was uncovering all the Ze stuff because he found himself at a dinner table with Cristina!

Yeah, Russ, that was a last minute thing, Justine emailed us a day or two ago. I wouldn't have done it if I wasn't already gonna be there hanging out downstairs.

Dan Selzer (Dan Selzer), Wednesday, 26 May 2004 16:34 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah Bob is really nice, that's for sure.
