Richard Cheese (Nu-Metal and Hip-Hop songs in a lounge style)
Ten Masked Men (Chart-Pop done Death Metal style)
Mike Flowers Pops (pretty much a UK mid-90s version of Richard Cheese)
The Great Kat (Classical greats in a thrash/power metal style)

There must be more?

Snuff were mostly along these lines when they started off, what with their covers of various TV advert tunes - Kwik Fit, Bran Flakes, Shake'n'vac, et flipping cetera. Dunno if they ever dropped the novelty side of things, cuz other than that they did have some pretty great hardcore tunes.

Also see the Barron Knights, V/VM, and, arguably, Laibach.

NickB (NickB), Monday, 17 May 2004 12:03 (twenty-two years ago)

Do Luther Wright and the Wrongs count? I haven't heard their countrified version of The Wall so I don't know if it's comedic or not.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Monday, 17 May 2004 12:59 (twenty-two years ago)

Snuff always carried on with the comedy thing - Standing the the Shadows of Love, Soul Limbo, I will Survive, Whatever Happened to the Likely Lads theme - always covers on their albums.

Oizone, and their various forms (Oiasis etc.)

___ (___), Monday, 17 May 2004 13:01 (twenty-two years ago)

The Coolies-- Their first record is mostly odd Simon & Garfunkel covers. They had some originals, but mostly they did strange covers.

Killdozer's cover record 'For Ladies Only' is their most listenable record, although I am sure a few people would disagree. Their cover of Steve Miller's "Take the Money and Run" is genius.
