I'm going with this one....to say nothing of the abject awfulness contained therein...

Agreed?

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Monday, 17 May 2004 19:03 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't understand the appeal of New Found Glory. They're not even catchy, and they're supposed to be a "pop-punk" band! They're just a sugary hookless pile of sonic glop.

Yeah, that album cover is dreadful.

latebloomer (latebloomer), Monday, 17 May 2004 19:08 (twenty-two years ago)

ooooh, but it's an "enhanced CD"

martin m. (mushrush), Monday, 17 May 2004 19:09 (twenty-two years ago)

it reminds me of Dangerous Toys

A good nominee for "worst album" as well.

dieblucasdie (dieblucasdie), Monday, 17 May 2004 19:10 (twenty-two years ago)

I love the album, but the cover... My!

Roger in Mokum (Roger T), Monday, 17 May 2004 19:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Wilco - A Ghost is Born

jubal harshaw (jube), Monday, 17 May 2004 19:13 (twenty-two years ago)

It's a jazz album, but I still think this cover is ugly (esp. when a lot of his album covers have been pretty modern and well-designed, for jazz).

Ahh, black metal logos never change, do they.

Jordan (Jordan), Monday, 17 May 2004 19:16 (twenty-two years ago)

Im reserving judgment until I see the cover for the new cure album.

bill stevens (bscrubbins), Monday, 17 May 2004 19:18 (twenty-two years ago)

I LIKE that Ragnarok album! And the cover, you know, tells you what yer getting, pretty much.

scott seward (scott seward), Monday, 17 May 2004 19:19 (twenty-two years ago)

"Ahh, black metal logos never change, do they. "

They're eternal and unchanging, like the seasons...

latebloomer (latebloomer), Monday, 17 May 2004 19:31 (twenty-two years ago)

The Wilco cover just makes me think of Spiritualized.

alex otm. i have to look at a giant poster of that fucking thing all day.

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Monday, 17 May 2004 20:28 (twenty-two years ago)

does he cover Radiohead on his new album too? 'cause he's all indie and stuff

Morley Timmons (Donna Brown), Monday, 17 May 2004 20:30 (twenty-two years ago)

Of course he does (Everything in its Right Place).

Jordan (Jordan), Monday, 17 May 2004 20:32 (twenty-two years ago)

That Wilco cover is embarassingly icky, but New Found Glory tops it for sheer garishness.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Monday, 17 May 2004 20:33 (twenty-two years ago)

have you seen the video? it's just inexplicable.

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Monday, 17 May 2004 20:34 (twenty-two years ago)

the video was horrific, but I have to admit I spent more time thinking about how much I fucking hate New Found Glory's songs.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Monday, 17 May 2004 20:38 (twenty-two years ago)

has Morrissey disowned the singer yet? That's his son, right?

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Monday, 17 May 2004 20:39 (twenty-two years ago)

we are gonna sell soooooooooooooo many copies of that tomorrow

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Monday, 17 May 2004 20:39 (twenty-two years ago)

"irish blood, american vomit"

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Monday, 17 May 2004 20:40 (twenty-two years ago)

the wilco picture is making me sadder though.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Monday, 17 May 2004 20:42 (twenty-two years ago)

it would only be forgivable if they'd named the album Wilco Lays An Egg.

Is that title inspired by "Hot In Herre"?

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Monday, 17 May 2004 20:46 (twenty-two years ago)

the new found glory cover is the most disgusting thing i have ever seen.

s1ocki (slutsky), Monday, 17 May 2004 20:48 (twenty-two years ago)

imagine it 10x10 and staring you in the face for six hours straight

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Monday, 17 May 2004 20:49 (twenty-two years ago)

and you haven't killed anyone yet?

Morley Timmons (Donna Brown), Monday, 17 May 2004 21:01 (twenty-two years ago)

well the allergy medecine is keeping me pretty sedate lately...

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Monday, 17 May 2004 21:02 (twenty-two years ago)

i also rather like that Brad Mehldau cover. I Like the Squarepusher one too - he's not particularly a pretty face but thats a lovely photo.

jed_ (jed), Monday, 17 May 2004 21:08 (twenty-two years ago)

I am amazed at the restraint being shown over the Cure cover!

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 17 May 2004 21:08 (twenty-two years ago)

I have to give them credit for being that... self-parodic.

Sansai, Tuesday, 18 May 2004 00:41 (twenty-two years ago)

awww, that's like the cutest Cure album cover ever! Total shit, but in a cute way!

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Tuesday, 18 May 2004 01:01 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm still debating it... At least, it's better than Bloodflowers..

Morley Timmons (Donna Brown), Tuesday, 18 May 2004 14:24 (twenty-two years ago)

i like that Cure one - better than crap like the last RHCP album cover

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 18 May 2004 14:27 (twenty-two years ago)

That's not really the new Cure cover, right?

Suddenly Foghat

Bahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Tuesday, 18 May 2004 14:30 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes it is, sir

Baaderoni (Fabfunk), Tuesday, 18 May 2004 14:31 (twenty-two years ago)

I wonder if she gave the okay to have that as the cover image of the soundtrack? Apparently the movie is playing in France right now. God, that guy is a monster.

Ben Boyer (Ben Boyer), Tuesday, 18 May 2004 17:01 (twenty-two years ago)

I hear he is a purveyor of fine chocolates

Morley Timmons (Donna Brown), Tuesday, 18 May 2004 17:03 (twenty-two years ago)

Now if it was showing her biting it off...

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 18 May 2004 17:11 (twenty-two years ago)

I'd totally pay to see a Vincent Gallo snuff film

Morley Timmons (Donna Brown), Tuesday, 18 May 2004 17:14 (twenty-two years ago)

At this point, I'd almost pay to see him snuffed, film or no film.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 18 May 2004 17:15 (twenty-two years ago)

The Huckle-Buck (Horace Mann), Tuesday, 18 May 2004 17:26 (twenty-two years ago)

Or the blood of Boy George.

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Tuesday, 18 May 2004 17:34 (twenty-two years ago)

Is there a difference?

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 18 May 2004 17:35 (twenty-two years ago)

Are you suggesting, Dan, that Boy George is made of pasta?

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Tuesday, 18 May 2004 17:37 (twenty-two years ago)

Haven't you seen him lately?

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 18 May 2004 17:39 (twenty-two years ago)

I've seen a bad Leigh Bowery impersonator. Haven't seen Boy George in some time

Morley Timmons (Donna Brown), Tuesday, 18 May 2004 17:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Damn, I was just going to post that Kravitz, and suggest he was drowning in the blood of all of the innocents he's murdered (spiritually anyhow) with his syrupy faux-rocking hippie glop.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Tuesday, 18 May 2004 17:41 (twenty-two years ago)

Not featuring the !!! right in the middle as big as it can be is on par with the wrong turn Chicago made with Hot Streets.

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Tuesday, 18 May 2004 17:53 (twenty-two years ago)

it looks like the Watson/Crick-flavored Yahoo! "Life Engine" campaign

Morley Timmons (Donna Brown), Tuesday, 18 May 2004 17:54 (twenty-two years ago)

the Kravitz and the new Morrissey might make for a good cover connection, but I'm too knackered right now to test it out

zebedee (zebedee), Tuesday, 18 May 2004 17:58 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm torn over the Kravitz cover. It's completely narcissistic and over the top, but so were most of the best album covers from the 70s...all of which look great as vinyl sleeves.

Then again, it could have come from the pages of Playgirl too.

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Tuesday, 18 May 2004 18:02 (twenty-two years ago)

the price of what?, Tuesday, 18 May 2004 18:20 (twenty-two years ago)

I really like some of these covers -- the Cure, whatever that black and white collage thing is, even the PJ Harvey, and that Squarepusher is surprising and terrific.

Casuistry (Chris P), Tuesday, 18 May 2004 18:21 (twenty-two years ago)

I like the !!! cover. Colorful and groovy.

Mr. Snrub (Mr. Snrub), Tuesday, 18 May 2004 21:14 (twenty-two years ago)

'The Real New Fall LP' wins hands down. Can someone post a pic?

Sasha (sgh), Wednesday, 19 May 2004 00:09 (twenty-two years ago)

Crikey... Ragnarok! They're from like half an hour away from here. I haven't heard the most recent albums, but they were terrible up to and including "Diabolic Age"

Anyhoo:

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Wednesday, 19 May 2004 00:16 (twenty-two years ago)

But what about the Abscess cover, Spencer?

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 19 May 2004 00:18 (twenty-two years ago)

I am starting a grassroots campaign for an Abscess/Sluts Of Trust tour NOW.

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 19 May 2004 14:15 (twenty-two years ago)

The Squarepusher one is great! What's wrong with it, that he's not a model? I like the way the light and shade come out and the fonts are printed so simply and tastefully. The Mehldau looks OK to me too, not great but not that bad. The Gallo and Kravitz ones are duds.

sundar subramanian (sundar), Wednesday, 19 May 2004 14:41 (twenty-two years ago)

And I also thought the Cure one was a joke at first.

sundar subramanian (sundar), Wednesday, 19 May 2004 14:42 (twenty-two years ago)

And I also thought the Cure one was a joke at first.

I did too, and probably still will when I see it in the store.

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Wednesday, 19 May 2004 14:48 (twenty-two years ago)

they should call it "the real new cure lp"

fortunate hazel (f. hazel), Wednesday, 19 May 2004 19:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Hey, I think that Wilco cover is great! Can't take my eyes off it, even though it makes me wanna use words like "austere" which I'm unsure how to pronounce, and not even 100% sure about the definition.

No denying that New Found Glory is godawful, tho.

Myonga Von Bontee (Myonga Von Bontee), Thursday, 20 May 2004 18:17 (twenty-two years ago)

I like the Wilco and the Cure covers. They're just so damn cute. Lenny Kravitz must be stopped.

I think every TITD album cover has been horrible. Yet somewhere in the middle they managed to churn out "Temple of the morning star", which has a really quite nifty looking cover.

NB that's a cheeseburger.

nabiscothingy, Wednesday, 2 June 2004 15:45 (twenty-two years ago)

I think the squarepusher uv one looks like a Phil Collins album is all. Come on, you can't argue with that.
Putting a headshot of yourself on the album cover S/D?

I like the contents of the album though...

superultramega (superultramarinated), Wednesday, 2 June 2004 17:47 (twenty-two years ago)

That Wilco cover is awful. It screams "I am a Rush bootleg"

Elvis Telecom (Chris Barrus), Wednesday, 2 June 2004 18:08 (twenty-two years ago)

Who's is the Cheeseburger Butt?
and that "Acid Drinkers" thing looks like a Euro concert bootleg of a Pearl Jam show or something.

Neb Reyob (Ben Boyer), Wednesday, 2 June 2004 18:08 (twenty-two years ago)

Who's is the Cheeseburger Butt?

if only America is not the world was the new Morrissey single, huh...

tod (tod), Wednesday, 2 June 2004 18:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Cheeseburgerbutt is Cheeseburger, by Cheeseburger.

nabiscothingy, Wednesday, 2 June 2004 19:24 (twenty-two years ago)

nabiscothingy, Wednesday, 2 June 2004 19:25 (twenty-two years ago)
