No rough guide either.

I've been thinking about making a best of (with souleek's assistance) but I stopped paying attention after 'Now I got worry' so I need a hand.

Here's what I got so far (*just* blues explosion at the moment although honourable mentions for Butter 08 tracks and other stuff are welcome. If there's enough I'll do 2 discs.)

Actually, I think a JSBX/Barenaked Ladies double bill would be exactly right. I bought their first two albums hoping for blues filtered through that Pussy Galore hammering-on-the-kitchen-sink sound. Instead I got jagged, spastic crap with the worst lead vocalist ever, and that includes Steve Perry and Gwen Stefani.

They have that experimental remixes EP that has the "Greyhound" two part remix thing, part 1 Moby remix (one of the best things that little sprite has ever done), and part 2 Gza remix with one of the rawest most awesomest Killah Priest freestyles EVER on it.

i always liked pussy galore, and i thought the blues explosion were great live and on a few records like "crypt style" and esp. "orange"... they just painted themselves into a corner, they were too conceptual and they never figured a way to grow out of their own schtick. poor dudes, must be depressing.

i have just had an epiphany. i like JSBX so much more than PG. DEATH TO MY COLLEGE RADIO YEARS.

they were awesome live, even when i saw them on the Acme tour. (Acme, Sideways Soul and Plastic Fang are completely awful, by the way) classic at least for Orange and Now I Got Worry, which when combined become the Silliest Hard Rock Album of the 90s.

the key to enjoying JSBX is by thinking of Jon as doing a shameless/ful parody of James Brown. it's funny at first, then it seems dumb. after a while, though, the fact that he keeps driving the joke into the ground becomes hilarious in and of itself. then he puts out Acme and you know it will never be funny again.
