And thinking about it that Massive Attack v Mad Professor album had a song or two with orchestral flourishes on it, though I'm not sure whether that's really 'proper' enough dub for your definitions here.

in 1996 Bim Sherman and Adrian Sherwood made Miracle, an album that fused mellow dubby grooves with orchestral flourishes.
it's not proper dub as there are vocals, but it is a gorgeous album.

apparently the album was a result of Adrian wanting to do a reggae/orchestral album for years but had never the reason/excuse/funds.
then Mantra stepped and things took off.
I believe there is a remix album (various folks as opposed to just one producer, which I reckon would have been the best a la Mad Prof vs MA),
but I have yet to get a copy.
another glass of wine this evening and that could no longer be the case.
