January 8, 2002 - MX-80 completed the first stage of its arthoscopic joint replacement strategy. Guitarist Jim Hrabetin underwent knee surgery in December and vocalist Rich Stim replaced a shoulder capsule in October 2001
"We've been together for 25 years," said Stim, "and we just thought -- let's replace some parts." In 2000, the band bought a 5-year limited orthopedic policy for staggered single joint replacement.
In 2002 Bruce Anderson and Dale Sophiea are eligible for new joints. "I haven't decided what to replace," said Anderson, "nothing's really bothering me." "If I can't have a new back," says Sophiea, "Ill go for a right knee or right shoulder."
In related health news, MX-80 announced that it had switched from bar soap to pump soap.

That's right, a swimming-pool mishap. An obese woman rode the circular slide to the water and landed on him. (And, likewise, I am not making THIS up!)

Hah! Eater had no brains.
Worse still, Shriekback not only had no blood, no guts and no brains at all; but (in what I can only assume must have been a ghastly surgical mix-up) their spine replaced with a bassline of all things!
