City lights shinin' on me, said it's time to go. Abusin' you across the country, said I feel hot coals. Chain me to the floor, headed for a lobotomy, beggin' them for more, cold blooded bitch goin' out on me. Can't me hear me tellin' you, I've got something to say? Cocaine, rattlin' around in my brain.

I expect 100 answers by morning. OR ELSE.

Invasion... had a better sleeve, but Out of the Cellar wins.

best sleeve was the pre-OOTC EP with the mice all over Tawny's legs...

smell the glove

I'd say Out of the Cellar tops Invasion of Your Privacy, but only barely. Invasion's "You're in Love" and "Lay it Down" were better singles than "Round and Round" and "Back For More", and that album had a fantastic, extremely glossy 80s rock sound (the drum sound especially), but Out of the Cellar is more consistently good from start to finish. A;so, Ratt had to be the only LA rock band that never recorded a power ballad in their heyday.

And personally, I prefer Invasion's Marianne Gravatte photo to Cellar's Tawny Kitaen.

Invasion starts great (the first 3 songs kick your @ss) then it runs out of gas a bit and gets spotty from there on out. Cellar is pretty solid through and through and sounds dirtier. I preferred my "hard rock" a bit murkier (a la Aerosmith Rocks).

Privacy was always, to me at least, the weakest of Ratt's '80s albums. In this case, I'll pick Cellar (but my real pick would be Dancing Undercover).

I think my biggest problem with Invasion... was the single, "You're in Love," which is just a shitty title for a single, to say nothing of the fact that the song itself wasn't much to write home about.

Which album was "Way Cool Junior" on?

when I was a lad, and getting into metal, Ratt's Out of the Cellar was a big obsession for awhile....someone said "murky" and I think that's the key to it's appeal, it seemed dark and scary (which sounds funny to say no, I know), but something about it oozed menace to me.

I think "Way Cool, Jr." was like the 4th album. Whatever that was called. Ratt albums all followed the formula: 10 songs, no more, no less. 1st single ALWAYS the first track on the album. And inevitably the best track, followed by another single and lots and lots of filler.

Out of the Cellar was pretty great at the time, though. Maybe the 2nd LA metal record I owned? After Shout At the Devil? "Lack of Communication" and "In Your Direction" were great album tracks. I think dave had a thread about the latter.

Great point up there by abegrand about ballads. Never thought about it but yeah, totally. I wonder why they never tried one?

Percy is hardcore, brah.

Ratt "In Your Direction" C or D?

Also, Pearcy has zero vocal range, which got worse as the years went by. By the time Dancin' Undercover came out, he was singing in a raspy monotone.

It's on Reach for the Sky. '88.
