What band do you wish you could be in?

cw28 (cw28), Friday, 21 May 2004 12:20 (twenty-two years ago)

I always wanted to be in the Cult, especially Electric era Cult.

I wanted to be in Faster Pussycat circa '86-'87.

If I could replace Malcolm Young for one song at an AC/DC concert I would consider that attaining Nirvana.

cw28 (cw28), Friday, 21 May 2004 12:22 (twenty-two years ago)

I sort of envied that second "drummer" in the Feelies. You know, the guy who did almost nothing except hit a cymbal or a snare now or then.

kwhitehead (stephen schmidt), Friday, 21 May 2004 12:30 (twenty-two years ago)

zep, naturally, il be John Paul Jones underapreciated but essential.
nowadays i would like to be either Andre, Pharell or Kimberly from Girls Aloud, on account of then I could stand at the mirror in provocative poses all day.

lukey (Lukey G), Friday, 21 May 2004 13:05 (twenty-two years ago)

Destiny's Child. I want to be "in" Destiny's Child. Get it?

briania (briania), Friday, 21 May 2004 13:10 (twenty-two years ago)

serge, Friday, 21 May 2004 13:16 (twenty-two years ago)

THE FALL, ANY ERA.

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 21 May 2004 13:23 (twenty-two years ago)

I would kill to play drums for Spoon or The Roots.

Jordan (Jordan), Friday, 21 May 2004 13:23 (twenty-two years ago)

SONIC YOUTH!!!

Siegbran (eofor), Friday, 21 May 2004 13:59 (twenty-two years ago)

there's loads of bands id like to be a touring member of, but i dont think i'd like to play a creative role in any bands other than ones im dissatisfied with, like weezer, green albun-->persent. i wouldve opened up a can of whoopass on rivers every time he brought a song to us that had no spunk.

Felonious Drunk (Felcher), Friday, 21 May 2004 14:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, I don't even really like the Roots much anymore, it's all about playing that live show.

Jordan (Jordan), Friday, 21 May 2004 14:21 (twenty-two years ago)

Momus

Sonny A. (Keiko), Friday, 21 May 2004 15:32 (twenty-two years ago)

not much work, that.

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 21 May 2004 15:33 (twenty-two years ago)

Penguin Cafe Orchestra, innit.

Sick Mouthy (Nick Southall), Friday, 21 May 2004 15:33 (twenty-two years ago)

Are we talking about which band we'd most want to tour and record and hang with because we want to be friends with the band, or which one we'd want to be in for selfish reasons?

I'd most want to hang out with The Walkmen or The Avalanches, but for purely jack assed reasons, I'd most want to be in Oasis or Roll Deep Crew. I crave the drama.

Ghost! I want to wear prayer beads.

stephen morris (stephen morris), Friday, 21 May 2004 16:36 (twenty-two years ago)

I wouldn't want to be in any of my most favourite bands 'cause I'd ruin them! But Trumans Water is a band I like that I feel I could contribute to. (Assuming they wanted another lousy guitarist, which they almost certainly wouldn't.)

Assuming I had the ability, I'd love to play drums or saxophone (my favourite instruments) for Can or Pere Ubu or something similar.

Myonga Von Bontee (Myonga Von Bontee), Friday, 21 May 2004 16:39 (twenty-two years ago)

hstencil took my 1st answer. This Heat would be #2 (or #1a, really). I would play the kazoo for either. If that fell through, then Throwing Muses, to give their percussion an extra Motown boost.

I'd only want to be the drummer for Spoon if I could actually drum like the drummer for Spoon.

David R. (popshots75`), Friday, 21 May 2004 16:45 (twenty-two years ago)

I didn't list THE FALL because of any "I might be able to add to their sound" reasons but because Mark E. Smith is the punk-rock grampa and that amuses me to no end.

Standing five feet away from him yesterday was awesome.

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 21 May 2004 16:47 (twenty-two years ago)

I'd only want to be the drummer for Spoon if I could actually drum like the drummer for Spoon.

B-but I can! Or at least I'm doing my best slavish imitation in this rock band at the moment. I'll send you the record when it comes out. :>

Jordan (Jordan), Friday, 21 May 2004 16:52 (twenty-two years ago)

Bring it! I only hope you're not playing "Advanced Cassette" while your bandmates are essaying "One More Saturday Night" or "Unbroken Chain".

David R. (popshots75`), Friday, 21 May 2004 16:54 (twenty-two years ago)

IRON MAIDEN!

jel -- (jel), Friday, 21 May 2004 16:55 (twenty-two years ago)

Haha. No, the band is very Spoony actually, I'm really excited about it. It's called either The Optimistics or The Optimistic, we're not sure yet.

(x-post -- jel OTM)

Jordan (Jordan), Friday, 21 May 2004 16:58 (twenty-two years ago)

please make sure it's the former and not the latter, ugh.

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 21 May 2004 16:58 (twenty-two years ago)

The Minutemen, the Replacements until around 1984. Or the Stones (mostly for the dough though - I don't think i could take too much Jagger on a regular basis.)

louizah, Friday, 21 May 2004 17:27 (twenty-two years ago)

The Donnas. Circa 1986 Motley Crue. Orchestre Baobob. Three Six Mafia.

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Friday, 21 May 2004 17:30 (twenty-two years ago)

I want to reform Life Without Buildings, be an asshole which unites all the other members against me, get kicked out, and then they record a second album.

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Friday, 21 May 2004 18:09 (twenty-two years ago)

Any band that does a lot of sitting down. The Kronos Quartet wld be ideal.

Andrew L (Andrew L), Friday, 21 May 2004 18:13 (twenty-two years ago)

to be in Kronos you have to be bald or have a sideways haircut.

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 21 May 2004 18:18 (twenty-two years ago)

I have a 'Bobby Charlton'

Andrew L (Andrew L), Friday, 21 May 2004 18:21 (twenty-two years ago)

er, maybe Yo La Tengo, because they seem like fun..

Maybe The Bad Seeds because they kick ass.

dave225 (Dave225), Friday, 21 May 2004 19:21 (twenty-two years ago)

hot!

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 21 May 2004 19:25 (twenty-two years ago)

I'd like to be in the current incarnation of Guns n' Roses as long as they paid you enough to live on and you'd never have to actually play any gigs.

Jordan (Jordan), Friday, 21 May 2004 19:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Wu-Tang Clan

christhamrin (christhamrin), Friday, 21 May 2004 20:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Good Charlotte, Simple Plan, All-American Retards or whatever, if just for all the pussy I'd be getting.

latebloomer (latebloomer), Friday, 21 May 2004 20:33 (twenty-two years ago)

Huey Smith and the Clowns. They just sounded like they were having way too much fun.

Jazzbo (jmcgaw), Friday, 21 May 2004 20:41 (twenty-two years ago)

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Friday, 21 May 2004 20:46 (twenty-two years ago)

amazing how you have so many KJ gifs..
(do fans call them "the joke", or "the killings")

my answer: drummer for wedding present, circa "seamonsters" (the album i learned to play drums from. basic, but heavy).

paulhw (paulhw), Friday, 21 May 2004 21:01 (twenty-two years ago)

creepy....I'm burning Seamonsters onto my iPod as I type this. You'd have to have a great deal of arm stamina, Paul.

Oh, and fans call them "the Joke," if you must know.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Friday, 21 May 2004 21:07 (twenty-two years ago)

"Good Charlotte, Simple Plan, All-American Retards or whatever, if just for all the pussy I'd be getting. "

That makes me sound like such an asshole! Oh, wait a minute...

latebloomer (latebloomer), Friday, 21 May 2004 21:20 (twenty-two years ago)

Last week I decided I ought to be in Ladytron. I imagine them staying up all night ironically snorting coke off each other's bodies, but being like... really, really nice.

N. (nickdastoor), Friday, 21 May 2004 21:49 (twenty-two years ago)

I used to want to be a character on Full House.

latebloomer (latebloomer), Friday, 21 May 2004 21:58 (twenty-two years ago)

OTM with Huey Smith, Jazzbo.
