"fading away"?

Nate in ST.P (natedetritus), Friday, 21 May 2004 14:22 (twenty-two years ago)

I think we need to track this back a few more years so one can be sure they definitely aren't coming back.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 21 May 2004 14:22 (twenty-two years ago)

The Strokes will release three more albums before MBV releases one more single.

Nate in ST.P (natedetritus), Friday, 21 May 2004 14:23 (twenty-two years ago)

Oddly enough, I've been listening to the Strokes more in the last week than I have in a long time. It's not a fade away, but a fade-in I guess.

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Friday, 21 May 2004 14:23 (twenty-two years ago)

YEAH AND THOSE THREE MORE ALBUMS WILL STILL SUCK, NATE.

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 21 May 2004 14:23 (twenty-two years ago)

The Strokes will release three more albums before MBV releases one more single.

And yet that eventual single will please my soul much more! ;-)

Sorta x-post I guess.

HOT HOT HEAT

Be sure to Loop! Loop, Loop, Loop. (ex machina), Friday, 21 May 2004 14:24 (twenty-two years ago)

They've been on tour and releasing videos and stuff but I guess they're not on the cover of NME every week so there's your falling-off

stencil, your caps lock is stuck. And you're being a dork. Again.
Ned, nobody wants to hear about your Kevin Shields boners.

Nate in ST.P (natedetritus), Friday, 21 May 2004 14:25 (twenty-two years ago)

hahahaha I'm the dork? Mr. backpacker-rap-and-wrestling-and-hot-rods-but-doesn't-drive thinks I'm the dork? YOU ARE COMIC GENIUS, NATE PATRIN!

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 21 May 2004 14:27 (twenty-two years ago)

seriously dude, I love you. You are funny.

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 21 May 2004 14:28 (twenty-two years ago)

kind of like a reverse Culture Club.

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 21 May 2004 14:32 (twenty-two years ago)

the kills are neither overhyped nor bad

the surface noise made by people (electricsound), Friday, 21 May 2004 15:02 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh, but they are! I saw them on the first tour in a tiny venue and they STANK.

I saw them on Coney Island and they were AWFUL.

I heard a track of theirs somewhere and I HATED IT.

Be sure to Loop! Loop, Loop, Loop. (ex machina), Friday, 21 May 2004 15:03 (twenty-two years ago)

....fading away

I don't know why, but this makes me sad. But yes, the Hot Hot Heat are indeed fading fast.

From: Katie
Date: Mar 11, 2004 08:49 PM
Subject: Franz Ferdinand!! (soo rockin!)
Body: Ok, so my good friend turned me onto this new band Franz Ferdinand. And may I say... freakin' AWESOME!! It has been so long since I heard songs sooo good and sooo rockin' that I have to blast it and actually jump around and dance and shake my booty! Seriously, this band rocks, and I mean that cool old fashioned funk edgey raw type of rock, with the catchiest hooks, but pure music all the way thru. An album that will make your head bop and foot tap involuntarily, for sure. Everyone should run out and buy it NOW!! You will NOT be dissappointed!

Be sure to Loop! Loop, Loop, Loop. (ex machina), Friday, 21 May 2004 15:54 (twenty-two years ago)

oh my god.

FRANZ FERDINAND + "EDGY" = LOLZ!!!

Be sure to Loop! Loop, Loop, Loop. (ex machina), Friday, 21 May 2004 16:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Franz Ferdinand would be better if they were actually gay, instead of just looking it.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Friday, 21 May 2004 16:15 (twenty-two years ago)

why?

ddb, Friday, 21 May 2004 16:18 (twenty-two years ago)

This message was from this girl who owns the YYY's cd! My friend Julia and I were at Katie's apartment and we saw it and we were all "wow I didn't think anyone listened to this except for 16 year old girls and people shopping at Best Buy".

HUGAHAA DICKS. She also has a Hot Hot Heat CD. Her "party music" that she picked out of all her music was like: The Faint, Hot Hot Heat, YYY's, Franz F. and Rah Bras.

Be sure to Loop! Loop, Loop, Loop. (ex machina), Friday, 21 May 2004 16:19 (twenty-two years ago)

man, yallz some assholes

lilac, Friday, 21 May 2004 16:49 (twenty-two years ago)

The Rah Bras are great.

Dan Selzer (Dan Selzer), Friday, 21 May 2004 16:52 (twenty-two years ago)

I feel kinda sorry for the Rah Brahs.

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 21 May 2004 16:53 (twenty-two years ago)

I think the YYYs have at least another record in them before they reach "fade away" status. They were a fun live show.

Shakey Mo Collier, Friday, 21 May 2004 16:56 (twenty-two years ago)

longwave cannot disappear fast enough for me

kyle (akmonday), Friday, 21 May 2004 16:57 (twenty-two years ago)

why are you sorry?

Dan Selzer (Dan Selzer), Friday, 21 May 2004 16:57 (twenty-two years ago)

(I like Rah Bras a lot!!!! I wish I had seen them as the backing band for Men's Recovery Project when they did that.)

Be sure to Loop! Loop, Loop, Loop. (ex machina), Friday, 21 May 2004 16:58 (twenty-two years ago)

I like Rah Brahs but there is something about them that is not quite there, if that makes any sense.

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 21 May 2004 16:59 (twenty-two years ago)

hstencil, a lot of my friends insist that they can't get into the records but love them live -- what do you think about THAT?

Be sure to Loop! Loop, Loop, Loop. (ex machina), Friday, 21 May 2004 17:01 (twenty-two years ago)

Where have you seen them live? I ask because I feel like the record was a bit sterile compared to the live show, and when they've played at Mighty Robot or even the show ToddP put on at the Right Bank they suffered from the raw "punk" sound systems, whereas when I had them open for Metal Urbain at Tonic, they totally kicked ass. A band like that with electronic percussion, multiple synthesizers, multiple vocalists, live drums etc needs a good soundsystem. I think for an entire song Skaritza played the drums with a pair of...Lionel Ritchie records.

Dan Selzer (Dan Selzer), Friday, 21 May 2004 17:03 (twenty-two years ago)

I love how completely twisted out of shape hstencil has gotten because I dared point out that putting one funk band on a bill w/four noise/rock bands looked tokenist. I mean, he's still on the warpath about it! And he's still in denial that it fucking does!

Matos W.K. (M Matos), Friday, 21 May 2004 17:06 (twenty-two years ago)

I've only seen them live once and have never heard their records. I'd go see them again but probably wouldn't buy a record.

Matos I'm totally joking with that wtf don't get all goofy on me yo.

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 21 May 2004 17:08 (twenty-two years ago)

HUGAHAA DICKS. She also has a Hot Hot Heat CD. Her "party music" that she picked out of all her music was like: The Faint, Hot Hot Heat, YYY's, Franz F. and Rah Bras.

Well, it was a party, right? Maybe you don't know this, Jon, but people generally don't want to hear Prurient at a party.
