Movement 2004 - Deetroyt - please advise

So the former DEMF/current Movement 2004 is next weekend. Not at all being into house or straight-up forms of techno or "DJ gigs", at least in previous years there were enough things to interest me enough to go, such as Tortoise [was a terrible set], Nobukazu Takemura, and last year's awe-filled tandem Liquid Liquid and ESG. Scanning this year's list, it seems that there's absolutely nothing to interest me.
Am I wrong? Who should I check out if my "electronic" tastes are more along the lines of PanSonic, MoM, Mum, Kraftwerk, Ninja Tune, Boards of Canada, Prefuse 73, dub, Two Lone Swordsmen?

...no offense to any ILMers who are on the roster.

the main lineup is a little weak but the liquid liquid cats are doing an afterparty. ghostly int is also hosting a party as well
www.detroitluv.com has a bunch of theinfo

since you're into the idm stuff you might want to check out
http://www.eclecticdetroit.com/
they're brining in xanopticon, cdatakill and some other cats.

Looks like the show itself is the opening act to the afterparties. Detroit at 5am is fun surreal stuff, but not enough to entice me and my friends to go. Start your day at 11pm and you should have a good time.

Pat-- I agree... totally lack-luster line-up this year. in fact, i'm not even bothering to come home for it. BUT, if I were in town I'd totally check out the Madlib, JayDee and Peanut Butter Wolf performance. From what I can guess, you'll dig it! Of course, Mutek is the real place to be the following week.

I've had the best times of my life anwhere at some of those afterparties. The festival itself? A charming little civic carnival, corn stands and all. But if you're into the good stuff, Detroit's the place that will convince you of the power of house. My advice: check out the deep shit: UR, Moodymann, Kevin Saunderson, etc. It's sloppy America, so shit can be hit or miss, but when a party hits, with a hot rod sound system, you'll swear you're not on Earth.

Yeah, the festival this year is disappointing, especially after last year featured DJ Magda, Wolf Eyes, Liquid Liquid, Jeff Mills, Theo Parrish, etc. I haven't even seen any related parties that look that good this year.

actually, there's a pretty comprehensive list of afterparties at www.technotourist.org... a few of them look quite good, i'd say

Friday, May 28th 2004 - AGAVE 4265 Woodward Ave (afterparty announced at venue) - Detroit
Green Light, Go!!!
Dan Bell, Claude Young, Shake, Cabanne (live/dj set), Shawn Rudiman (live), Jeff Samuel, John Tejada.

Wow! But even that's nothing compared to this one:

Saturday, May 29th 2004 - St. Andrews Hall - Detroit
YEL 2 - presented by paxahau
Speedy J, Chris Liebing, Biosphere, Deadbeat, Monolake, Mathew Jonson, Matthew Dear, Derek Plaslaiko, Ryan Elliot, Mike Servito

That's scaaarrrrry good.

The first three names in Dan Bell's lineup put everybody else at a disadvantage.
