well?

yeah the rap sucks.

this sounds like a scientifically engineered midpoint b/t beyoncé and christina aguilera.

i sort of like it. although the prude in me is still really alarmed by the level of sexual explicitness.

CLASSIC all the way, one of my favourite songs at the moment and a really great summer tune. I like the languidness of the beats, almost lazily filling space.

I haven't heard a version with a rap on it, thankfully.

The Lex (The Lex), Monday, 24 May 2004 07:14 (twenty-two years ago)

but what are the 12 year olds going to make of it?

amateur!st (amateurist), Monday, 24 May 2004 07:18 (twenty-two years ago)

They sent it to No 3... pretty decent considering the non-profile of Milian since "It's All Gravy". A couple of strong follow-ups, a bit less Beyoncé-biting, and 2004's looking like a good year for her...

The Lex (The Lex), Monday, 24 May 2004 07:21 (twenty-two years ago)

i love this, especially the 'ima teach you how to make your man sing..ohhhhhhh!' bit.

pete b. (pete b.), Monday, 24 May 2004 07:22 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah, it is genuinely sexy, which is what scares me.

amateur!st (amateurist), Monday, 24 May 2004 07:22 (twenty-two years ago)

We also need to mention the rolling around in ink at the climax of the video.

The Lex (The Lex), Monday, 24 May 2004 07:33 (twenty-two years ago)

i like the way she goes "a really, really good boy". but the initial buzz of the chorus has worn off on me, and i don't like hearing it repeated so many times. don't listen to me, though, i didn't really like "more than a woman" for the same reasons.

the video = not sexy.

vahid (vahid), Monday, 24 May 2004 07:47 (twenty-two years ago)

i like it but it makes me play 'am to pm' before i get to the end of the track.

myke boomnoise (myke boomnoise), Monday, 24 May 2004 13:38 (twenty-two years ago)

... Eh.

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 24 May 2004 14:23 (twenty-two years ago)

As per Alex I like it's languidness. I like how Christina sounds kinda distant and far-off, like she's a goddess imparting sexual tips from her seat on a mystical plane to her devoted followers.

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Monday, 24 May 2004 21:35 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes! Great song. Much better than the shitty buzz bin stuff that MTV has decided to start playing (see the Coheed and Cambria thread).

christhamrin (christhamrin), Monday, 24 May 2004 21:40 (twenty-two years ago)

the video terrifies me.

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Monday, 24 May 2004 21:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Super catchy song. I like it very much. My son (8) keeps singing the chorus (and no he hasn't asked me what the lyrics mean, mercifully).

David (David), Monday, 24 May 2004 21:49 (twenty-two years ago)

what is the video like?

amateur!st (amateurist), Monday, 24 May 2004 22:09 (twenty-two years ago)

basically she is doing an (admittedly quite sexy) dance routine and then is SMEARED WITH TAR (or something thick, viscous, and black anyway), pulled through it, spun around in it, and carried around by various muscle men.

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Tuesday, 25 May 2004 00:13 (twenty-two years ago)

Strongo did it provoke unfortunate flashbacks?

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Tuesday, 25 May 2004 00:16 (twenty-two years ago)

I thought you quite enjoyed that party.

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Tuesday, 25 May 2004 00:16 (twenty-two years ago)

i'm still trying to get the tar off my heels, dammit.

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Tuesday, 25 May 2004 00:28 (twenty-two years ago)

vahid (vahid), Tuesday, 25 May 2004 00:32 (twenty-two years ago)

omg

amateur!st (amateurist), Tuesday, 25 May 2004 00:52 (twenty-two years ago)

fourteen years pass...

this is a classic

jaymc, Sunday, 3 June 2018 07:01 (eight years ago)

even though the video makes me think of baby seals this is easily one of the greatest singles of my lifetime

boxedjoy, Sunday, 3 June 2018 09:11 (eight years ago)

guess this was her first big US hit but in 2001/2002 "AM to PM" and "When You Look at Me" were huge in Denmark
