TS: Herbie Hancock's "Rockit" vs. "Pump Up the Volume" by M/A/R/R/S

In theory, "Rockit" was more groundbreaking, but I've always thought "Pump Up the Volume" more radical. Noise, turntables, and Ofra Haza? Top 40 hit? Not too shabby.

I'm unable to decide between the songs, so I'll take "Rockit" because of the awesome video.

Did "Pump Up the Volume" even have a video, or just one with clips from the Michael J. Fox smash "Bright Lights, Big City?"

PUTV had a video with computer animation of satellite technology.
BUT, I'd say:
"Voodoo Ray" knocks 'em both out.

The correct answer: the '84 Herbie Hancock "Megamix."

the M/A/R/R/S video is great, one of my all time faves just for the interesting and amusing footage and synchronicity with the beat

MARRS every time. 'Rocki[s]t' more like. Soloes are jive.

M/A/R/R/S by the merest of whiskers, because it ran at 114bpm and therefore allowed me to beat-mix hip hop into house. 114 was always a such an under-used bpm.

"Rockit" is a fantastic song.

"Pump Up The Volume" is one of my favorite 500 songs of all time.

"Pump Up The Volume" 12" mix w/ full b-boy breakdown destroys.

There's a thread somewhere abt 'what is the REAL' PUTV, and let's say it's messy. I have a 5-track maxi-single on CD. IT'll do me fine.
