I hate both - but i cant help feeling that busted are going to be remembered more than the strokes. if the strokes are so great why havent I heard anything since that single a few years ago. unfortunately I hear busted everyhere - and their evil spawn mcfly.

And as for franz ferdinand.....

You have probably worled out by now that i am an old bitter git who should probably just shut and and listen to jazz or alt country or something like that

are they competing for your hate?

Jarlr'mai (jarlrmai), Tuesday, 25 May 2004 10:06 (twenty-two years ago)

Mcfly are so last week, Busted are so last year. It's V now. Do keep up.

So, we flick the V's at V?

OMG KATE TO THREAD!!!

Daniel_Rf (Daniel_Rf), Tuesday, 25 May 2004 10:24 (twenty-two years ago)

Busted win. "Here's to the year 3000, everything's the same - but we live underwater"

Nice afterthought. Exactly the same, except for the amphibeous thing.

If the strokes didn't take themselves so seriously, and if I hadn't had to give up my ticket on their first UK tour, and if Rough Trade had released the new album on vinyl at the same time as the CD then maybe I would be able to pass comment rather than storming off in a huff about it.

So, Busted, who I own no records buy and never will, win.

OMG KATE TO THREAD!!!
haha YOU link this page to that thread on ILE she's currently (not) posting to, then!

Strokes are pretty good, Busted are great, but the new McFly 45 is completely fabulous.
Everyone knows V are terrible.

Oh, who's that doing a cover of "Wild Boys" Duranx2? That it's better singing has never seemed less important ever...

mark grout (mark grout), Tuesday, 25 May 2004 10:39 (twenty-two years ago)

Jeez, you guys are going to have to try harder than this. Haven't you heard the tale of woe of my network troubles?

Julian and James both want to paint my toenails. But Julian wants to paint them a dull, boring, tedious shade of Noo Yawk hipster black so dull it's actually grey, while James wants to paint bubblepunk blue streaks on my toenails. So Busted win.

I think Phixx are the Wild Boys coverers

Jaunty Alan (Alan), Tuesday, 25 May 2004 10:53 (twenty-two years ago)

yr RIGHT!

mark grout (mark grout), Tuesday, 25 May 2004 10:54 (twenty-two years ago)

I can't get my head around that Phixx cover. I mean, for a start, I just think "Red Skies At Night" when I hear the name. For a second, well, Crikey, they actually try to *sing* the song. I far prefer Simon LeBonBon's mewling and caterwauling. Trained singers, singing it properly? Oh no no no no.

And also, well, the video is just rubbish. No Nick Rhodes achieving world domination. No Simon LeBonBon getting tied to a windmill sail and drowned. The Pat Benetar dancers are nowhere near as good as the William S. Burroughs dancing boys. And the most important reason... NO JOHN TAYLOR!!!

I think we need some photographic evidence of the Ass Quotient in order to decide the original question. Seriously.

I've kind of just blown my "not really kate" stance, haven't I? ;-)
