Stevie Wonder: "Superwoman (Where Were You When I Needed You)"

Does anyone know if this was ever released as just "Superwoman," without "(Where Were You When I Needed You)"? Was there ever a single like that? I know the two songs flow together on Music of My Mind, but I remember "Superwoman" pretty clearly. The second part sounded unfamiliar when I heard it. I think it's a mistake to have linked it to "Superwoman," since it seems a lot weaker. (At least I can get Prince's "Kiss" without "Uneedanotherlover" or whatever the song is.)

it's the b-side of superstition. it was reissued for oldies jukeboxes and shoudln't be too expensive to track down.

Ah ha. Thanks. I started looking for discographies online, but got frustrated.

Superstition on the A side/Superwoman on the B side. That's unbelievable.

"(Where Were You When I Needed You)" leaves "Superwoman" in the dust.

That's insane.

The synth-link between the two parts is STUNNING.

What Naive Teen Idol said. That metamorphosis is jaw-dropping.

'Superwoman' was indeed released in '72 as a single without 'WWYWINY' -- the latter fading out just before the vocal comes in. Had a copy of it when I was a young 'un. And it was an A-side -- not the B-side of 'Superstition', not originally, anyway -- such a single was probably released as a two-sided-hits oldies format type thang a few years later.

I think I agree about the connecting synth. part. Haven't listened for a while, actually.

The pair together (including the bliss inducing connecting miasma) are the most heavenly aural delight ever.
