What are the bands/artists that you've never heard, and know you'll never need to hear, based on what you know about them?

I have a friend who really likes the Features (blah), and we watched some "indie show" that they "guest hosted" on MTV 2 late last Sunday. They played a bunch of videos by a bunch of bands that I had read about and not bothered looking into. My hunches were all affirmed.

Oh and what's the deal with all new "hip music" having videos with animated cutouts?

-- 57 7th (nickdouglas7...), May 26th, 2004.

I'd like to know what you heard about krautrock that didn't sound good? When I first heard that there was this entire scene of music in the 70s where crazy germans made crazy music and I had heard any of it, it was like this big secret that I was suddenly finding out about.

David Allen (David Allen), Thursday, 27 May 2004 04:31 (twenty-two years ago)

What makes you think you wouldn't like TV on the Radio, Nick?

Sonny A. (Keiko), Thursday, 27 May 2004 04:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Why the Broken Social Scene hate? I've turned on them slightly lately, but I find it hard to believe that people couldn't enjoy at least one of: 'Almost Crimes', 'KC Accidental', 'Pitter Patter Goes My Heart', 'Anthem For A 17 Year Old Girl', 'Cause = Time', 'I Slept With Bonhomme At The CBC', 'Cranley's Gonna Make It', 'Last Place' or 'Massbreaker'.

Mine:

Rasputina
Coheed & Cambria
Frankee
Anything on Vagrant.

Easily amendable. Suggest a track to change my mind please.

oasis

radiohead
-- autovac (mrichards2...), May 26th, 2004.

that's bullshit! that's a lie. anybody "with it" enough to: (1) get on the internet and (2) seek out this forum would have defintely heard at least one of those bands at some point. that's like living in new york city and saying "i've never seen a black person".

Matilda, Thursday, 27 May 2004 23:38 (twenty-two years ago)

I've never heard Oasis. Not knowingly, anyway. I've probably heard a song, like, on a commercial. Or at The Gap or something.

Broheems (diamond), Thursday, 27 May 2004 23:42 (twenty-two years ago)

the verve
travis

amateur!st (amateurist), Thursday, 27 May 2004 23:46 (twenty-two years ago)

Any performer affiliated with "American Idol".

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Thursday, 27 May 2004 23:47 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, I've actually never heard The Verve, Pulp ... any of that stuff. I suppose I'd like to actually hear Pulp, given the Scott Walker recommendation. Whatever, maybe I will maybe I won't.

I do know that one Bush song they play at sports stadiums when something good happens. Or wait, is that Blur? The one that goes "whoo-hoo".

Broheems (diamond), Thursday, 27 May 2004 23:51 (twenty-two years ago)

pulp is good, you would like them (some of it anyway).

amateur!st (amateurist), Thursday, 27 May 2004 23:52 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, I think I would too! It's probably unfair of me to lump them in with all the other dreck.

Broheems (diamond), Thursday, 27 May 2004 23:54 (twenty-two years ago)

broheems and i have heard exactly the same blur song!

mullygrubber (gaz), Thursday, 27 May 2004 23:55 (twenty-two years ago)

i owned blur's greatest hits for about 48 hours, i got rid of that thing like it was moldy cheese.

amateur!st (amateurist), Thursday, 27 May 2004 23:57 (twenty-two years ago)

thing is my co-workers play that stuff and i can still honestly say i've never heard it.

mullygrubber (gaz), Friday, 28 May 2004 00:06 (twenty-two years ago)

I was looking at this thread and thought, "Well, that might not be a safe assumption to make, right? Maybe the band that you think would suck might actually be the group that helps you understand a whole new genre!"

So I downloaded a song and found out that Cast, in fact, suck bag. Conclusion: Assumptions are always right.

My name is Kenny (My name is Kenny), Friday, 28 May 2004 02:52 (twenty-two years ago)

Cast did suck, yes.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Friday, 28 May 2004 03:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Not *never* heard, but I'm sure I don't need to hear anything else (which is quite alot), but Guided By Voices.

Sasha (sgh), Friday, 28 May 2004 06:13 (twenty-two years ago)

nine years pass...

Who are they now?

peepee, Friday, 16 May 2014 17:52 (twelve years ago)

super furry animals, just based on the name. same goes for they might be giants.

marcos, Friday, 16 May 2014 19:35 (twelve years ago)

plus everything i've heard about both of them just sounds really boring.

marcos, Friday, 16 May 2014 19:36 (twelve years ago)

Are you celebrating your 10th year on ILM peepee? :)

Sir Lord Baltimora (Myonga Vön Bontee), Friday, 16 May 2014 20:00 (twelve years ago)

i like both of those bands marcos. wtf

frogbs, Friday, 16 May 2014 20:02 (twelve years ago)

Nah, Sir Lord....just some mild reminiscing crossed with an uninterest in polls.

peepee, Saturday, 17 May 2014 00:39 (twelve years ago)

peepee! gosh we've missed you

the only loving boy in UKIP (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 17 May 2014 00:52 (twelve years ago)

For me, there's almost no band I'll write off forever. I've changed my mind about too many already. I would've answered Stump 10 years ago and just today I've loving everything they did.

Gerald McBoing-Boing, Saturday, 17 May 2014 00:53 (twelve years ago)

I want to say "bands like Shinedown" but I've never heard Shinedown, I just assume they're boring, like Nickleback without the nasty.
