Monster Magnet: No hits kids

Oh, the indignity! First, Monolithic Baby is out for months in Europe and only just released this week in the US. Now they'll be touring Europe all summer with no word of American dates.

Here's Wyndorf's word on what to expect:

"NO hits kids ! The summer club shows will be strictly Psych and Hard Rock. I'm playing lots of guitar and will not be a front man for these shows. Not that I don't LOVE it but it's time we let the music do the talking. No Spacelord or obvious hits . It's an Acid Rock thing, I hope you'll understand. Festivals ? Well, that's another story. ROCK, ROCK, ROCK !!!!!!!!!!!"

Monster Magnet had hits?

AaronHz (AaronHz), Thursday, 27 May 2004 03:04 (twenty-two years ago)

By "hits" I think the Bullgod means "songs." Don't expect "songs", kids.

I saw Magnet last night play an in-store at Vintage Vinyl in Fords, NJ. As ever, they remain one of the best--if not the best--live acts I've ever seen. Wyndorf is among the greatest frontmen of all time, and I wish more people knew about him and MM. I know this is a lot of hyperbole, but it's impossible for me to think of another rock band that has really rocked as hard as MM.

Wyndorf's insane and I love him. Been far too long since I saw them live.

"Space Lord" was a big hit on rock radio and MTV. Best video ever.

I wasn't as impressed w/God Says No as I wanted to be but I like it fine. Should be interesting to hear the new one.

I like their satanic-drug-thing side, and the idea of this acid-rock, no-hits tour sounds cool to me. I hope somebody keps this thread alive by posting on what these club shows are like!

the new one is TERRIBLE...very boring.

I wanted it to be GREAT...sadly it twasnt.

Spine Of God still OWNZ.

I compltely disagree, the album rocks.

shookout (shookout), Thursday, 27 May 2004 13:34 (twenty-two years ago)

have you heard the older stuff?

the album is a SNOOZE dood!

ddb, Thursday, 27 May 2004 13:38 (twenty-two years ago)

I'll reserve judgement until I've heard it. Though I haven't liked any subsequent album as well as Spine of God, they've all had their monster-moments.

briania (briania), Thursday, 27 May 2004 13:46 (twenty-two years ago)

the new one isn't their best, but it's a lot better than _God says no_. "Ultimate Everything" is classic MM - I'd like to hear their version of "Venus in Furs" (US only bonus track, unfortunately).

"Negasonic Teenage Warhead" was another Monster Magnet "hit." I'm not a fan of the band, but that song rules.

Matthew Perpetua (Matthew Perpetua), Thursday, 27 May 2004 14:58 (twenty-two years ago)

They should really hang it up. I mean, I quite liked them for a while, but really....

donut bitch (donut), Thursday, 27 May 2004 15:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Kinda sounds like the new shows are gonna be like 25....Tab.

briania (briania), Thursday, 27 May 2004 15:45 (twenty-two years ago)

NOTHING like 25...Tab

ddb, Thursday, 27 May 2004 15:49 (twenty-two years ago)
