I just don't get it and it disturbs me. No offense to The Proclaimers, but who the hell goes to these shows? The peope who remember the "500 Miles" song? And do they really feel compelled to shell out the $ for it live at this point? And do they stand throughout the show and wait for that song to play in the encore and then go home happy because of it?

Other similar references: Lisa Loeb, any Tommy Lee project, horrible celebrity bands (Kevin Bacon, Juliette Lewis, Keanu, Billy Bob)

Have you ever seen the Proclaimers and Oingo Boingo in the same room at the same time? Think about it.

Apparently, Dada (the "i'm going to dizzz knee land" band) played mpls a little bit ago and they sold out a fairly large club. alt-rock hitz never die i guess.

More people have heard of those bands than your or my band, trifling as they may be.

And I know that LA is a big city, but even the thought of a club filled with 250 people who looked in the weekly and thought "oooh- Lisa Loeb- I've just got to hear 'Stay'" seems impossible....

People famous for being famous can always draw a crowd in the city, no matter how awful they are.

Yes, I know, but I live here and I don't want to admit the obvious. I want there to be something else. But yeah, if there are lots of fondue parties, there must be lots of cheese....

They will of course, attract Scottish ex-pats wherever they go.

what's more puzzling is when folks like Chris Knox play L.A. as his only west coast date, and only 15 people show up.

Because they want to beat them up?

No no, that would be cruel.
