after a protracted delay (like 18 months or so), australia's post-punk anarchists The Slugfuckers have a 2 cd re-issue available via Steve at Harbinger Sound from Nottingham.

the details are at http://www.users.bigpond.com/pturnbul/nns_reissues_slugcaco.htm

i know i'm biased (being there at the time and so on) but this really is a terrific release. to be brutally honest, i was never that fond of their ragged, left field version of punk but the excellent remastering of their studio work really puts their distinct style in high relief. definitely a one off.

I was never that familiar with them apart from that M2 compilation, but did they have a dub project on the side? Can't remember the name, but had the cassette and played it over and over.

Michael Train, an old associate of Chuck Warner and harvard radio type, made me a comp of all the Slugfuckers releases a few years ago. It's really cool stuff. Phil, what the hell was in the water down there? Slugfuckers, Primitive Calculators, Severed Heads, SPK? And so on...

While on that topic, watch for a major Sev Heads revival as the guy at Tiger Sushi just remixed Dead Eyes Opened and it's on the Ivan Smagghe Suck My Deck mix cd which is sure to be really trendy.

Well, hell, I like the band name. :-)

Phil was kind enough to make a copy of his 3 CDR set of postpunk goodness from Australia and I must thank him again. It's quite excellent.

He gave me that one too. It's always a good one for on the way to work.

thanks for the nice words ned and colin. go buy that slugfuickers record, though, it's a doozy.

i'm trying to organise a professional release of a 2 cd comp of the M Squared bands - systematics, scattered order, dead travel fast, prod, ya ya choral and all their myriad side projects. if it gets off the ground, expect an xmas release.
