It's gotta be high -- 85-90%?

rasheed wallace, Friday, 28 May 2004 16:19 (twenty-two years ago)

Probably more than before, since I've become an avid downloader.

Most of them. Especially if teaching lessons counts.

I don't know what the Rodney pic means.

Back to my original question: My guess is that its high....maybe 75%.
Of course, that might be an indication of what I like. I was always somewhat interested in this when I use to interview musicians.

peepee (peepee), Friday, 28 May 2004 17:03 (twenty-two years ago)

I won't hazard a guess at the actual number, but let's face it:
a large percentage of people who claim to be "professional"
musicians do NOT have day jobs - instead they are supported
completely by their wives/SO's/parents/gvmt.
I read a breakdown of touring payments and expenses, and the author
concluded that your average touring band member makes $2.50 or so
an hour.

Squirrel_Police (Squirrel_Police), Friday, 28 May 2004 17:06 (twenty-two years ago)

I bet half of the musicians I listen to still have some kind of day job at least part of the time.

I'd be more interested to find out what the ones without day jobs actually make from their music. I know of a decent number of bands who make their living entirely from music, and very few of them are raking it in. Even major label acts.
