R u still in 2 it? Like Herod?
Take me somewhere nice:
Secret pint --
Now you're taken.

Oh! How the dogs stack up.
O I sleep, my father my king,
Yes! I am a long way from home.

I was born on Christmas Day
No rainbows for me
Like the swallow
You're in a bad way
Lose that girl
It's all gone horribly wrong
We're in the city
The way we live now
Nothing can stop us
Cool kids of death

In the middle of the night,
yesterday's men
disappear
in the rain.

Tomorrow's just another day
when dawn arrives.
Tiptoes,

Land of hope and glory --
sign of the times:
Overdone,
I'll compete.

Green eyes, could you be the one?
If I told you every everything,
Everything falls apart

Folk lore makes no sense at all,
I don't know what you're talking about,
Friend you've got to fall

Afraid of being wrong,
Obnoxious games, amusement wheels,
Diane, keep hanging on

She's a Woman (And Now He is a Man)

she's a man
another piece of meat

dave q, Sunday, 30 May 2004 02:05 (twenty-two years ago)

Suzanne, love calls you by your name.
Take this waltz, dance me to the end of love
I'm your man, everybody knows
Take this longing, tonight will be fine
You know who I am, be for real
Lover lover lover, if it be your will.

Hey, that's no way to say goodbye
Ain't no cure for love, don't go home with a hard-on, here it is.
One of us cannot be wrong, winter lady
Came so far for beauty, humbled in love, that don't make it junk
Is this what you wanted? You have loved enough, I tried to leave you..
a singer must die, I can't forget
True love leaves no traces, a thousand kisses deep, hallelujah

an ode to no one

tonight, tonight
glass and the ghost children
bury me, the crying tree of mercury
where boys fear to tread

once upon a time
daphne descends, crestfallen
in the arms of sleep
with every light

the sacred and profane,
porcelina of the vast oceans, take me down
thru the eyes of ruby, today

i of the mourning, i am one
here is no why
we only come out at night

lily (my one and only), perfect
stand inside your love, by starlight

behold! the nightmare
blue skies bring tears
farewell and goodnight

I'm a Woman
When I Was A Girl
Pickin' Tomatoes
I Saw Your Face.

I Built My World Around You.
Everything That's Mine.

Time Slips Away.
Long and Lonesome Road.
Tobacco Road.
I'll Write Your Name Through the Fire.

Oh Lord.
I Ain't Never
Gonna Sing Me a Song.
Just a Song.
A Waste of Time.

Love is In the Air.
Love Sweet Love.
I Won't Be Lonely Long.
You'll Come
Beggin'
Early in the Morning.

Fix Your Hair, Darling.
Come My Way.
Let Me Carry Your Bag.

Hey.
Wait.
I've Spent My Money.

Save Your Love.
Keep It If You Want It.

Poor Boy.
Now He's Gone.

really good time.

Rain, rain, rain
Cry, cry, cry.

Presto: time stand still
Leave that thing alone, Tom Sawyer
Force ten mystic rhythms out of the cradle.

Fly by night, roll the bones hand over fist
Cut to the chase—

Freeze between the wheels
Resist the necromancer
Driven closer to the heart.

West of Rome, soggy tongues;

Very friendly lighthouses.

Blond boy
Empty eyes
On the prowl
City of nights

Looking for love
The sensualist
First time
Black kiss

For one moment
Under your wing
Your kisses burn
Strange feeling

Caroline says
Undress me
Moonbathe skin
Tragedy

In your bed
Adored and explored
The flesh is willing
A woman’s story

You have
Just one chance
Sleeping beauty
So long the path

Melancholy rose
A lover spurned
In my room
My candle burns

This house is haunted
Traumas, traumas
A million manias
Sleepwalker

The desperate hours
Tears run rings
Amnesia nights
The sea still sings

Anarcoma
Secret child
Midnight soul
Born to cry

Can't get out of bed?

Tell everyone

Just when you're thinking
things over --
crashin' in --
The end of everything ...

Here comes another soul saver :

Me.
In time.

White shirt,
tremelo song ;
Up to our hips,
senses.

Oomingmak spooning good singing gum,
When Mama was moth
Five ten fiftyfold --
Because of Whirl-Jack

Multifoiled laugh lines,
A kissed out red floatboat,
Know who you are at every age,
For Phoebe still a baby

Throughout the dark months of April and May,
Eyes are mosaics;
Lorelei, my love paramour,
I wear your ring.

Those eyes, that mouth
Sigh's smell of farewell --
Why do you love me? Eperdu,
Sea, swallow me.

Lazer Guided Mellow Leee (Leee), Saturday, 5 June 2004 05:21 (twenty-two years ago)

sweet! I was going to attempt Cocteau Twins next, but I like your version better. Ok, here's another one from me. The poem has a sort of Southern rap feel to it, but it ain't Outcast! Actually, it's in the complete opposite direction! Bonus points if you can guess the band I stole these titles from ...

stripey, Tuesday, 8 June 2004 14:28 (twenty-two years ago)

All the world loves lovers :
appetite, elegance, technique, --
Where the heart is? Tiffanys.

Wicked things don't sing ;
all boys believe anything.
Cruel. I'm a troubled man,

one of the broken. Wild card
in the pack. Cue fanfare,
Hallelaujah! Venus of the soup

kitchen, talking scarlet,
blueberry pies, life of
surprises -- couldn't bear

to be special. The Ice Maiden,
prisoner of the past, love will find
someone for you, (when you get

to know me better). Golden calf.
Farmyard cat. Horsin' around
... till the cows come home.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 8 June 2004 14:55 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah, the trick is to find a band that's been around for years and years so that you've got a large catalog of song titles to choose from. Even better if the song titles are rather long or have a consistant meter to them (see Roxy). I'm having fun composing these on my breaktime. More to follow soon. ;)

Eight-line Poem

Did you ever have a dream?
A small plot of land, a new career in a new town?
If I'm dreaming my life, I can't explain.
Stay, sweet thing: let me sleep beside you.
Be my wife. Never let me down, never get old.
Because you're young, everything's alright.
Day in day out, I'll follow you
unwashed, and somewhat slightly dazed.

don't say no
I want more vitamin c
...and more soup
give me no "roses"
don't turn the light on
leave me alone

spoon out of reach
soup unfinished
