Peter Criss' first two solo albums: Classic or Dud?

Out of Control and Let Me Rock You

The former is interesting in that it features Criss doing "You Better Run", a song later popularized in the early career of Pat Benetar (Pat's version wipes the floor with Criss', in case you're curious). Also has a hilarious album cover of an exploding juke box, done up in full late 70s-very early 80s airbrushed glory (look at the hairdos on the kids).

The only song I like on these two is a song called "Tears" on Let Me Rock You. Why that is, I don't know...sounds somewhat like Criss sitting in with the E Street Band to do a poignant, pop ballad like you would imagine Bryan Adams or Meatloaf singing. The only one I've bothered to save...

I have a soft spot for a song of his called "You Matter to Me" -- it sounds very much like Suzi Quatro's "Stumblin' In," though it's not a Chapman/Chinn job. His ragged vocals actually sound good in that one.

his was the weakest of the kiss solo albums by a mile. ace's was the greatest by an equal margin.
